Description
First built around 1200AD, Duiske is one of the finest Cistercian Abbeys in Co. Kilkenny. The interior features a variety of items of historical interest, including the 9th century Celtic crosses of Akylthawn and Ballyogan; and a large, imposing effigy of a Norman knight. Duiske's adjacent Abbey Centre also houses a range of exhibits, including several examples of contemporary Christian art. Guided tours are available throughout the year. Admission is free, although donations are welcome.
