Interesting Place to Visit!
We enjoyed our visit to the Biltmore Estate. Our family bought our tickets online since they were running a "special" of $10 off per ticket -- it was still $40 per person. Once we arrived, we also purchased the $8 audio tour earphones for each of us. We were very thankful we did so -- without a tour guide or much written commentary, the audio explanation made the tour much more meaningful. We would highly recommend others doing so if you want to understand what you are seeing. On one website, we read the recommendation to pack a picnic lunch -- this we did and found it to be a great idea. Dining at the estate restaurants or cafes would have cost between $9-$17 per person for lunch. We found nice tables overlooking the parking lot by the garden store to enjoy our lunch. The Barn was also worth visiting as they have a carpenter and blacksmith demonstrating their trades, along with a gift store, interesting movie, petting zoo, and other interactive displays. It was a fun place to visit and worth the stop, but understand that it is similar to Disney in that there are the "extra" hidden costs in addition to your ticket once you get there to make your trip worthwhile (audio tour, food, drinks, extra tours, etc.). Probably adults would find this place most interesting.
