Description

This award-winning licensed Indian restaurant is found upstairs in Manuka Court. Aptly named the Jewel of India, the first impression is of a pink jewel, reminiscent of the glow of a ruby, with predominantly soft pink furnishings. Genuine Indian artefacts and old timber furniture enhance the effect. Chef Venkatesh was trained in India and has many years of experience in top Canberra restaurants. His menu includes many regional cuisines including Tandoori, Biryanis and Pepper Chicken from Madras. Entrees start at AUD6 and mains from AUD12.

cockroach boiled rice

Main things I disliked about this dining experience was the rear leg of a cockroach we discovered at the bottom of our shared boiled rice and the stomach cramps and runs for both of us following the experience. Maybe we just picked a bad night...

Authentic Indian Food

The only Indian restaurant in AU serving authentic Indian food. The other restaurants use the same gravy, the food has no taste & they claim to be authentic.

the indian cuisine served at jewel of india, manuka, is the most authentic in australia. We have tried severla palces, but jewel surpasses our expectations consistently. the ambience is warm and friendly with light indian classical music and the service and personal attention by the owner makes it an enjoyable experience every time, be it with family or friends.
