Carved over millions of years by Carnarvon Creek, the sandstone gorge in the Carnarvon National Park snakes 30 kilometers, giving life to luxuriant ferns, palms and "dripping" mosses. The nomadic Karingal Aboriginal group wandered in and out over thousands of years, leaving stencil art on rock walls. Wildlife is abundant : bowerbirds even try to steal something blue! Your choices of side gorges are many: the Moss Garden perhaps the prettiest; an amphitheater that will take your breath away as you climb up into it. Call for more details.
I loved the whole wildreness. Everything was so peaceful, and the view, oh it was breath taking! The birds, animals, everything was beautiful. The people we met were kind, thoughtful and great help when needed. The Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge is a great place the stay and really should be rated five stars, not three!
The money you pay is worth every cent and I will definately be going back next year!
