With the Australian taste in spicy curries growing, restaurants that can offer the scents and sounds of the sub-continent are flourishing. The Taj Mahal delights in supplying classic Indian dishes that would be as at home on the streets of Delhi. This compact, well-presented restaurant is characterised by its friendly staff and decorative Indian surrounds. Chicken Tikka Masala provides the perfect mix of tender tandoori chicken and a mild, yet tantalisingly spicy sauce. The menu includes free rice and a wide selection of breads and vegetable accompaniments. The smorgasbord dinner offers excellent value at AUD15 per head.
Good food. Service is good, although sometimes can be slow. Great selection of curries and authentic Indian cuisine. Do not choose "mild" as this will destroy all the good flavours associated with authentic Indian food.
Taj Mahal has been a pleasant surprise, as most Indian restaurants in Brisbane are of much lower standard compared to Gold Coast, Sydney or Melbourne. It offers a wide range of vegetarian dishes of good quality. Palak-paneer naan is my favourite. An area for improvement would be desserts.
The food is fantastic. Really strong flavours in all the dishes, the food is very rich. After eating at other Indian places in Brisbane, I am even more in love with this restaurant.
The service is fantastic - all the staff are dignified, enthusiastic and friendly.
The meals are very affordable. The prices are reasonable enough to warrant getting takeaway. So even if you're not planning a big evening, Taj Mahal is still the place.
If you are planning a social evening, Gerties and the Alibi room are just across the road. So there's places to go have a drink (or two) after your meal.
This is a good indian restaurant. The service is quick and fantastic. The wait staff is knowledgeable. When we asked for advise on the menu, we got it. The dishes were not extraordinary but were flavourful.
Cons: No condiments...usually indian restaurants serve condiments with food like papadums or pickles...those were nowhere in sight...
Excellent food & Service. This the place if you are looking for the best selections from Indian Cuisine in Brisbane, at highly affordable prices. Booking is helpful for large gatherings but not required if you are willing to wait a few minutes. A truly memorable experience.
