Named after the original "State of Ying" - one of China's oldest cities with all the cultural significance of Rome. With Laminex tables and red and yellow "menu" banners adorning the walls, this is an incredibly busy eating spot where you may have to wait for a table. The decor may be simple but the food is fabulous. Specialities include stir-fried crocodile with snow peas, red pepper chicken, beef or prawn, and the restaurant's signature dish, red vinegar ribs.
A regular haunt of mine, and of everyone else who loves Chinese food in Adelaide. In fact, a regular haunt of anyone who likes food in Adelaide full stop.
The food is absolutely incredible, and unlike most Chinese restaurants, its actually like the food in China.
All the dishes are great here, so I am hesitant to offer recommendations, but here are a few anyway:
Broad Bean Curd (or bbc as it is known)
Stir fried crocodile with snow peas and chilli.
Stir fried jellyfish with celery and chilli.
Steamed flounder with ginger and spring onion.
Red roast vinegar ribs.
All the eshand hot pots.
the list goes on and on.....
All the food is ridiculously cheap, and so is the beer.
The only downside for some is the dcor, but it looks just like the street restaurants in China so I don't mind.
great for veg and non veg.
not many tables, book or go after 8.
open till 2am Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Ying Chow is famous for its good prices and quality food. There's few in this small city that can compete.
The decor is basic and the environment is loud. Expect this place to be busy and always book if you can.
Wide ranging menu and caters well to vegetarians. Make this a stop while in you're in Adelaide.
