Elephant Walk Cafe
Twelve years on, this is still one of Adelaide's most unusual cafes. You can not help but love its intimate atmosphere. Kitsch, cluttered and dimly lit, this tiny cafe seats only about 20 at a time - you may have to wait outside for a table! Sink into a two or four person booth, sheltered by large cane fans and screens. Try gourmet coffees and teas, snacks and cakes - perfect for a late night rendezvous. Try coffee Africana - coffee, chocolate, rum and orange topped with cream and chocolate.
My partner and i have visited many of Adelaide's hottest restaurants, bars and cafe's.. this was not one of them!
Sure the ambiance was romantic however the odor, cleanliness, service and the food quality were not!
Elephant walk cafe came highly recommended, it's an establishment that prides itself on quaint fixtures and mess... however it would not hurt if a vacuum cleaner, sanitizer, disinfectant or air freshener were used once in a while!
A tiny room cluttered to the brim with a very unique and collective personality. Littered with individual lamp light, you can sit inside in your own private corner or out amongst the stars in the jungle themed courtyard, sipping teas of the world and indulging yourself with strawberry and cream waffle mountains or decadent chocolate cake for two!
You'll find yourself there until close!
The Elephant Walk is incredibly unique. You will not find another place with ambience and food presentation that is equal to that of the Elephant Walk. It is the perfect place to take a date, but beware some may percieve the decor as being slightly 'brothel-esque'. I wouldn't take a first date here because all of the canoodle-ing couples cosying with each other may give your date the impression that you want to do more than get to know their personality.
Take your partner here or some good friends for some yummy after dinner deserts and a chat in a really romantic and cosy environment.
What a delightful little slice of the Adelaide nightlife!?! Take the opportunity to sip some fine teas and nibble on some cafe-style treats (I recommend the scrumptious Apple Cin!) amongst the bohemian decor. Totally chilled, totally intimate. The Elephant certainly won't forget this one. Ta.
