Jackson Mynelle Gardens, Jackson

I have lived in Jackson for 22 years and until the past year or so had only visited Mynelle Gardens on rare occasions. Due to budget cut backs, I began looking for alternative entertainment ideas for my nieces and nehphew. Mynelle Gardens is very affordable, very beautiful year round, and full of adventure for the kids. They love all of the different statues and the many paths througout the garden. The main attraction is a nice size pond that is full of fish and large turtles. For 50 cents you can puchase a bag of food at the office to feed the fish and turtles. The kids love it. There is a nice picnic pavilliion wih a fireplace for birthday parties, etc. At differenti times of the year, the garden is filled with butterflies as there is always something in bloom. There is a stream that runs throughout the grounds with several bridges giving the children many opportunities to try and catch baby frogs or minnows. It is a very educational adventure, as well, with most of the plants, trees and flowers being labeled. For the adults, it is peace and tranquility. Trees, shubs and fences drown out the noise of the world and you would never know the gardens were next to a busy 4-lane road. If you want to get your kids off of the couch or off of the computer - take them to Mynelle Gardens to commune with nature. It is a great bonding experience that puts you in touch with the beautiful things in nature. But hey!! Its not just a great place for the kids, it is also very romantic. Take a blanket and plan a picnic with your significant other. Being there just rejuvenates your soul!!

Mynelle Gardens is beautiful, but it is absolutely not worth the terrible and frustrating staff and policies that make it very difficult to have a wedding here. I helped plan a wedding for someone who booked this venue for two hours (3-5pm). However, she was told a month away from her wedding that everything had to be dismantled and everyone had to be gone by 5pm, because that is when they closed. RIDICULOUS! They let her book this venue with the understand that she would have her two hour reception her for the time she booked, yet later they said she really only had about an hour. We were able to convince them to give her an extra hour to get everything taken down so her guests could have the full 2 hours, but they charged her more! If you are looking at this spot to have a wedding, I would strongly recommend searching elsewhere. This placed is staffed by city employees who care nothing of service or quality. They are paid to be in their office from 9:00-5:00, and before or after those hours they care nothing about you or your wedding needs.

I love the people.. they are willing to help in any way possible to make everything go right with you wedding...I have truley enjoyed working with them.
