Fort Casey rounds out a quartet of decommissioned forts built to guard against the threat of attack during the 1904 Russo-Japanese War. Eventually the forts became state parks. On a sunny day, the breeze blows off the water over the cliffs at the fort. Kids clamber over the gun emplacements, and teenagers explore the dark, empty bunkers. Grassy meadows are perfect for picnicking and kite flying, and trails lead down to the sandy beach. The fort's buildings are now dorms for a variety of kids' summer camps. It opens daily at 8a.

beautiful views
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/20/10
What a wonderful place to take the whole family. We camped down below where the ferry terminal is and our spot was right on the beach. The kids could play by the water and we walked up to the old barracks which was really cool. Deer were grazing everywhere and so many neat things to see. One of our favorite places-we will definetely go back!

must see the GUNS
By Khar, 07/25/05
the whole deal was nice, amazing!! just being able to roam arround at the shell of what used to be a fort it is gr8. THE GUNS ARE AMAZING two 10 inch disapearing guns one "apeard" and one "disapeared" just the size of them... I went for the lighthouse, and maybe the walls and seeing a beach fort. but the guns were worth it the light house is nice, the other fort features are nice, nice grass for picknick nice beach below, but THE HUGE GUNS... if you have the choice just see it, standing next to guns that huge, gives one the sence of prespective like no other...
