Monte Villa Farmhouse (The)
The former Monte Villa Dairy Farm has been transformed into this charming farmhouse, which is now available for weddings and receptions. Weather permitting, ceremonies take place in the lovely front garden, complete with flowers, a wooden arch and tall hedges. Receptions take place in the living room with its colonial fireplace and hardwood floors. The sun porch has been converted into a bar, and the bedroom upstairs has been made into a luxurious dressing suite for the wedding party. The farmhouse can accommodate up to 200 people.
The building and grounds are beautiful and homey - very comfortable and welcoming. There are also tons of photo opportunities!
My caution is to know what you're getting into, though. The price seemed reasonable for the use of the facility for a 1/2 day, but since an evening wedding only gives you access from 4-12, and the first and last hours are for set-up and take-down, it felt very very rushed and stressful. Also, they don't make it clear that if you are serving food through Alexa's (the only option) you have to separately rent tables, linens, silverware, glasses, plates, etc., from AA rentals, which all adds up very quickly and negates any value in the location. I felt a lot like it was a bait and switch as far as cost was concerned.
The dining room was also very awkward beacuse it was so small and tables and chairs had to be removed before dancing could begin, which meant there was now few spots for non-dancers to sit and enjoy the evening.
Oh, and you can't bring personal beverages on site, even if you're the bride and want to have champagne with your bridesmaids in the upstairs dressing room while getting ready. They WILL take it away. Incredibly disappointing and unaccomodating.
I booked Montevilla Farmhouse for my daughter's Wedding because it is a beautiful facility with a close-in location for convenience. The Farmhouse could benefit from a more friendly customer service policy. Unfortunately many of our expectations were unrealized and completely ignored. We were determined to have a beautiful event and we did despite many problems and an uncompromising staff.
The Monte Villa Farmhouse was an incredible place to have our wedding. Not only was the staff (including Angie, Leigh--the owner, and Gretchen) considerate and increibly friendly, but they were accommodating and made sure that each and every detail was attended to. Even though they are not wedding planners, persay, they helped us book a DJ and florist who were also fabulous! Anyway, they have a great work ethic, and go beyond your initial expectations.
The grounds and garden are also lovely. They really keep the house and surrounding areas up, and the pictures from our wedding are breathtaking. I'd strongly encourage you to at least check it out!!
Monte Villa's concept of customer service is non-existent. The employee, Angie, is friendly when you meet her and his happy to help. After getting a quote their price seemed reasonable and I booked a date for my wedding. Subsequently we found out that the quote shorted items or completely left out items that obviously should have been included. We paid the non-refundable deposit and then set up a meeting to further view the property to plan for decorations. They were not only rude, but had the property booked so refused to allow access after the meeting had already been setup. The wedding was changed from day to night and a deposit paid. A subsequent quote appeared for the night time. Monte Villa neglected to inform that the extra cost would be over $1000 over the day wedding, not the $300 the led us to believe. The second quote also revealed the shortcomings of the first day time quote; even if we reverted back we would still come in well above the original day quote.
I wrote an email to the owner discussing in a professional manner my displeasure with the treatment of us as customers. Instead of taking the matter up and working with us we were sent a letter with our money back telling us that they back their employee, Angie and they could no longer work with us. Had I been rude to them I would understand this; however, they apparently want to take your money and provide no more customer service after that. If you are planning a wedding do not run the risk of getting everything set up and invitiations printed to have them refuse to honor their obligations to their paying customer and cancel on you. Please take your business to any of the many other nice venues in the area and save yourself the headache because wedding planning is hectic enough without the unkind and rude folks at the Monte Villa Farmhouse making things worse.
