Located on the waterfront, next to the Omnidome, this aquarium features exotic fishes, sea mammals, and other ocean life. See the sea lions, harbor seals, incredibly cute sea otters, and even come face-to-face with a shark. New exhibits are added often along with, special events and outings.
I have lived in the Seattle area about 14 years, and I do like the place. I would definetly suggest going on a week day if you can because of small children. It is more of a little kids attraction, but I would go again. It is not for everyone though. If you hate educational stuff, then go to a bar or something, not this. :)
people best aquarum yet
everything there is so intresting and outstanding i love it i would go there every day if I could. So i would inspire you to go there im doing a research project on it and its a really unique place and a lot to learn
A very expensive version of a tiny zoo. I understand Washington is special with our species of sea life and vegitation, but we are also interested in OTHER sea life as well. It was so expensive for such a small walk around. Thankfully the piers gave us something to do for the rest of the day, because this aquarium didn't put out.
As a local, I've visited the Seattle Aquarium about 3 or 4 times. It's not special, and the exhibits are certainly not impressive, but it is nonetheless a good experience if you just wish to see and learn about a few of the inhabitants of Puget Sound. If not for the seals and otters, the touch pools, and the (crowded) underwater dome, a trip to a local marine pet store would provide the same satisfying experience and save you $16.00 per person.
You should plan your visit on a weekday, especially if you're a claustrophobic like me. Otherwise you'll find yourself having to squeeze through all the people and their children just to view the fish.
I just moved here from the Bay Area and after seeing other aquariums I would rather have tourists save their cash for real aquariums.
People from Seattle obviously do not have a clue about what a real aquarium has to offer...Monterey Bay Aquarium is worth every penny this aquarium left me disappointed. If it had been half price and I would have been ok...But due to the price I will tell people to save their money for their trip to Monterey.
Get over your pride for this aquarium...It really is just OK.
I wasn't really impressed. It was very crowded and my children were not able to see any of the feedings while we were there. Since there is no "stadium style seating", when all the adults are standing around, the children cannot see anything.
Other than that annoyance, it was ok. They do have a really neat starfish exhibit and a jelly fish exhibit that was really neat.
This aquarium is nice , its fun to stroll around and see amazing fish that looked happy. there is an area for kids to learn, play in the tidepool, etc which is nice for families. there is a tropical exhibit, and hawaii exhibit too. then in the next buidling there are seals, sea lions, otters, local fish & birds. it was nice, but look for coupons in some of the tour books to save yourself some $$.
