You could spend hours poking around
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/04/07
This bookstore is really neat to look around in, and has an adequate selection of books in both English and Japanese, and all of the cute little school supplies and trinkets you would find in a bookstore in Japan. The only thing I can find to complain about is that every time I've gone inside on a mission for a certain item, they don't have what I'm looking to buy in stock, even though it says on their website that they have it. And if you do buy something, it's most likely going to be a bit pricey. But it's definitely the best Japanese bookstore in the US that I've ever visited, and if you have the chance to go there, I'm sure you'll agree.

miss it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/06
What I miss most about Seattle is actually Uwajimaya and the bookstore within it, Kinokuniya. It is so much better than the Kinokuniya in New York, much to my surprise. With multi-language books/music/magazines serving a wide range of interests, this bookstore is not to be missed by those interested in everything East Asian.

Wall O' Manga/Wall O' Pocky
By Naruto U, 10/15/05
This is the biggest Northwestern Store that provides the most Japanese Manga. I've been collecting Naruto Manga Books for Years, and it's great to know that this store is only a short hour and a half ride on the bus from Kent. The store has 12 Walls of Manga Books, 3 tables full of manga, and a wall dedicated to Artbooks of your favorite Anime, and a wall that sells Anime DVD's. What more could an Otaku Ask for? Next to Kinokuniya Bookstore [literally] is Uwajimaya. If your looking for Pocky [Japanese Pretzel Treat for Kids and Teens alike] there's an entire wall dedicated to selling POCKY. I also reccomend you buy Ramune' [great seltzer style drink, comes in a variety of flavors according to season.] Uwajimaya is host to some of the greatest authentic asian restaurants. I suggest The Shilya Korean Restaurant. Their food is a little on the expensive side [about 10 to 15 dollars per meal] but it's a lot of food. Great tastes as well!

Great Store!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/17/05
I really enjoyed visiting Kinokuniya, because it's not just your regular book store! Besides books to help with my Japanese studies, they have popular Japanese magazines, music (C.D.s) and lots of very cute stationary and trinkets. Also, the staff was quite helpful. Quite worth the ferry ride!
