Explore the universe at Richmond's Science Museum. A variety of hands-on exhibits, a planetarium and an IMAX theater make this spot a favorite of families. Children and adults will find something to fascinate them at every turn. The museum features a children's theater, live shows of the current night sky and a journey into the living cell. Also shown here are current IMAX films.
I went their with my girlfriend thinking it will be fun. We walked in and found a trail of gun on the floor clearly from a school field trip and every single event they have at this place it directed for the age of 12 and younger. I am sure the 12 year old kids find it boring as well. More then half of the events didn't work and the staff didn't seem pleased being their either.
Great place to bring your kids and push buttons and hang out. Don't expect to learn anything new if your over 12 years old.
Has been completely redone, with many new exhibits, all of which work. Very hands-on and information. Good for for people 5-105. Very cool stuff, electricity, space, forces and motion, optical illusion. The IMAX dome is also cool, the movies are always changing
My husband and I visited the museum by ourselves in Sept of 2008. They had several nice displays and 90% of them were in good working condition. The building is itself a work of art (old Richmond Union Station). Kids could several things with their onhands exhibits.
It's much improved over 10 years ago. When we were little, the Museum would go through cycles of being good then having most of the exhibits out-of-order. On my nephews first trip today, just about everything was working.
Be sure to go to the lowest floor, where the IMAX is, for the travelling exhibit.
Watch out for weekdays during the summer - tons of daycare field trips with kids running wild all over.
Great subscription for the entire family. I recommend membership for the year. Great value. Very educational for every age level. We visited the Richmond Science Museum end of September while visiting VA. Our family there has a family pass for a year and plans to renew for 2007.
I took my three children to this museum and we had a fabulous time. There were lots of hands on features which allowed my children to be very involved in the learning process. We planned to only stay a couple of hours and spent the day. We will go back again!
Wow i enjoyed every exibit in this museum and im the last person in the world who would adore a science museum. Its a fun way to get in to science. My favorate exibit is grossolagy its so fun theres all these games and activities! Im 11 and i advise you to go to this museum for fun witch brings up the Imax thearter witch is asom!
I was impressed with the building and facade and expected a wonderful experience. The exibits were like 30 years old with very old information. If you're about 10 years old, you probably already know everything to see there. I should have driven an hour and a half and gone to the Smithsonian. I wasted my time and money at this place. I feel bad for the great staff though since they have not been provided an adequate facility where they can work and share their knowledge.
