Outstanding and Very Interesting!
Brief: Engaging, Thorough, and Top Quality. Highly recommended!!
Detail:
I visited on May 17, 2006, a sunny and pleasant day.
The park is convenient to Interstate 85, and is open year-round. My visit was during the end of a school year, which is often very busy with schoolchildren on field trips. Nonetheless, my tour was realtively private and undisturbed.
Both the park and the museum are first rate in multiple respects. The historical research is throrough and very accurate. The careful use of multiple communication mediums made the understanding and accessibility of the history unique.
The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The park's store has more books, maps, and other Civil War information than I have ever seen available for purchase in one place.
If you are in the area, plan a trip to Pamplin Park. I recommend no less than a half day (I had to rush through some exhibits) and wear good walking shoes!
