Sugar House Park
One of the city's largest parks, the Sugar House Park is a spacious retreat and is also amongst the prettiest parks to see, in any season. Several large pavilions are available for booking, but call early since they tend to go fast. There is a creek running through the park, which feeds into a duck pond on the west end. Stop by for a jog around the paved roads, or walk around the trail that lines the park's outer edge. Or, simply lie in the grass and watch the many squirrels.
We love sugarhouse park. Having recently moved here and visited several parks in the area, this continues to be our favorite.
~Clean, well maintained
~The walking track around the park
~Lots of room
~Main center playground is large!
~There are a few pavillions you can sit and eat lunch in, or PLENTY of trees to sit under instead
~The stream is wonderful to sit near. But watch children!
There are a few things that could use some improvement:
~The second smaller playground is in need of repair it seems.
~the bathrooms could use some soap for hands....
~The sidewalk around the pond could be cleaned up on the east side....the sludge is so think it's impossible to push a stroller through. and the litter around it is the only unclean thing about the park
Overall we will continue to visit this park often! Thanks! :}
I had an afternoon to while away last time I was in Salt Lake. I'd been through Sugar House many times..and had observed the park that's there but never gone into it. From the street, it looks like a small, grassy park with a few patrons milling about. I decided to spend some time exploring..after all, I needed some exercise. :) So I drove in and parked. I ended up walking the perimeter. I was surprised at how big the park was.. but what was an even bigger surprise was how nice it was... friendly people.. the park was clean, well kept.. and had plenty of nooks and places for privacy if a person wanted it. I spent the whole afternoon and early evening there.. got a good portion of my book read.. and ended up nicely relaxed and glad I'd found a little haven that, next time in SLC, I'll be sure to visit again.
