Joseph Smith Memorial Building
Description
Once home of the Hotel Utah, this historical building stands majestically in downtown Salt Lake City. On the top floor are two restaurants, The Garden and The Roof , both overlooking Temple Square . The building and its facilities are owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Elsewhere in the building, 13 banquet halls offer space for meetings, banquets and wedding receptions. The church welcomes members and non-members alike to use the facilities.
It is a very beautiful building with a wonderful atmosphere. The people were all so friendly and helpful. The experience itself was simply amazing and very educational. We watched the Joseph Smith movie there and it really gave you an inside look on what he went through as well as the kind of persecution that all of the mormons had to endure. There was a wedding reception going on while we were there, and it was beautiful! What a great place to have a reception! The restaurants were so great as well, and everyone was so nice!!!
Stuffy atmosphere. Cathedral like floors and walls. people move in silence whispering with such a reverence that is a bit boring and sleepy. on street where the tallest biuldings are the church and the Wells Fargo Bank, this block of "parthenon" look alike palace for sure will stand out.
It is so cool and historical. we went there and i learned a lot. The history is cool and interesting. Keep it open forever and thank you Mormons for coming here and having this building made. Thanx Joseph Smith for everything you've done!!
It was a big confusing when I walked in. Loved it though. They are playing a great movie inside that made me cry. About Jesus visiting the people in the Americas. They have some family history computers inside there too.
What a Wonderfull reminder of the Truth we have, to be able to go and to remember Joseph Smith, and his life long sacrifices for our eternal well being. Thank you for this tremendous tribute to the Prophet.
Thank You Christina Wigren
Beautiful building, when I went there was live music in the foyer. I don't know if that is typical or common or rare, but it gave a nice, slightly elegant ambiance.
