I have to say that I have been to a dozen or so spas, and this was by far the best experience (and the best value as well). I have been to expensive, fancy places where I found it difficult to relax – either because I felt like a product on a conveyor belt or because I was spending so much money that I had a sense of urgency as though the taxi meter was running. I have also been to places that felt like the back room of a nail salon. At the Alamo Spa there were no big, fluffy towels; no lush carpeting; no heavy glass doors. But Olga and Martha made us feel as though time was standing still – a Luxurious experience. I will certainly be telling as many people as I can about this experience! I don’t have any trips to San Antonio planned, but will definitely remember the Alamo Spa if I should return!
Located in the hub of activity directly across from the Alamo, stepping into the Alamo Spa in the Menger Hotel was like entering another world...a refreshing and luxurious oasis. Its soft, sensual, and aromatic ambiance is complemented by the gentle, welcoming, and professional demeanor of its staff. We also appreciated their punctuality in meeting our scheduled couples' massage. Both massesuses, "Olga" and "Jabie," are lovely and exceptional! They listened and responded attentively to our needs. If you really want to "remember the Alamo", we highly recommend including the Alamo Spa during your next visit to San Antonio!
Before going to the spa, I read the reviews and decided to give it a gamble. The prices at the Alamo Plaza Spa blow the other spa's prices out of the water! In todays economy, who wouldn't want to save 20-50 extra bucks?!
The only thing I disliked about the spa was that it was small, however, I don't see this being a real problem, because you don't have to worry about other people getting in your way.
I was kind of excited to have a run-in with Letty, to see what kind of person I thought she was (someone mentioned her hitting on their significant other). Unfortunately, she was not working, but the receptionist that was in her place was very delightful to talk to!
The service was wonderful. The massage therapist(can't remember her name) was very attentive to my needs, I wish I could have taken her home with me! I cannot wait to return, maybe next time I will get a longer service!
our wonderful experience immediately began when we walked in the door and continued throughout all of our services. this spa has an amazing staff with the ultimate healing touch...i will definately be coming back every chance i get!!!
My Husband and I resently visited a muched talked about spa in the down town area by locals and friends. I desided to buy a couples package and waited for a speical moment for me and my husband to take a day off from our kids. When we both arrived to the spa we noticed it was very small and the receptionist was really rude to us when asking about our services. The whole time waiting for us to be taken back the receptionist LETTY was hitting on my husband. Even my husband couldnt believe how rude that was. Wonder if other things go on in that spa w the tacky front desk clerk. We should have reported her.
Upon our arrival to San Antonio yesterday afternoon, the Alamo Plaza Spa at the Menger Hotel was our first stop. We were almost 30 minutes late for our appointment, due to some inclement weather and the consequent accident which blocked the freeway on our way from Houston, but the receptionist/therapists were very understanding and forgiving.
This weekend we came to San Antonio to celebrate mine and my boyfriend's one year anniversary, and this was my present to him. Not only was it a wonderful gift to him, it was an amazing experience for me. We had a side by side Roosevelt Rub (the couples package), and Olga was outstanding and very attentive to my needs (I've been having shoulder and neck pains for months, and by the end of the session, all of my knots were gone).
After the hour and a half session was over, I could not stop myself from smiling. I felt so amazingly good afterwards, that it set the stage for a perfect anniversary night/weekend. I would highly recommend this spa to anyone looking for some R&R when visiting San Antonio. They are the best.
We are from Boston and were in San Antonio recently. We had a wonderful spa experience at the Alamo Plaza Spa. Both my husband and I had massages and spa treatments from Olga and Sarah. They were the best massages we've ever had, and we are regular spa goers! Wonderful job all around. Loved the restful decor and peaceful environment.
I had just arrived from New Jersey on a business trip and was very tense, as the meeting I attended was a deal-breaker. I was recommended some relaxing getaways by the concierge at the Menger Hotel and I ended up deciding on the Alamo Plaza Spa. It was amazing!
When I walked in the room it was very dim yet calming, as the room was brightened by an assortment of aroma therapy candles. I was greeted by Cheryl who was very attentive and catered to my needs. I told her my situation and she recommended the William Menger massage for me. Two hours of total relaxation! The aroma therapy sauna and the sea salt scrub was, by far, my favorite I have yet to receive and the price was very reasonable.
When I return to San Antonio I am eager to book the Alamo Kur massage, an all day, European-style massage including an all you can eat buffet. You can't go wrong!
First of all, I might add I am the Concierge at the St. Anthony hotel in San Antonio, TX. I was completely blown away by the level of service and the treatments that they offer. This was my first time ever coming to a spa and it was great. Upon entering, I was aksed to fill out a questionaire, which allowed me to personalize my treatment. Olga, my therapist for the day, was very attentive to my needs and gave the best massage I have yet to recive. I would definately reccomend this spa to everyone. It is nestled inside a beautiful historic hotel as well. My service was 2 hours of bliss! Please, do try it!
