Originally created as the grounds for the 1968 Worlds Fair, this park is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. Stroll through the park's 12 acres of fountains, pools and beautifully landscaped grounds or cavort on the Downtown All Around Playground. Built entirely by volunteers, this playground features wooden play areas designed by kids, including a space tunnel and a castleperfect for letting little imaginations run wild. Also located on the park grounds are the Institute of Texan Cultures and the Tower of the Americas.
When you visit downtown San Antonio, never park in unattended parking lots on level ground, where you pay the metal box. If there is not an attendant on site, and if you don't get a receipt, your car will most likely be booted or towed. The average response time for the private enforcement company to remove the boot, is 20-45 minutes. Also, you will be forced to pay over $100 to have the company remove the boot, even if you have paid the full parking price in advance as posted.
this park is nice (ignore the graffitti I guess) and kind of small. Since the price of the Tower went up, our family quit going altogether. If this park was within walking distance (for a kid) to get the Children's Museum, it would be a nice bonus, but it is too far and with inadequate parking, this park isn't worth the effort to see anymore. there is some nice scenery, but it doesn't seem worth it for kids to really have fun.
