Parking scams
By ,
When you visit downtown San Antonio, never park in unattended parking lots on level ground, where you pay the metal box. If there is not an attendant on site, and if you don't get a receipt, your car will most likely be booted or towed. The average response time for the private enforcement company to remove the boot, is 20-45 minutes. Also, you will be forced to pay over $100 to have the company remove the boot, even if you have paid the full parking price in advance as posted.

The Tower of the Americas was a very worthwhile experience while visiting San Antonio. My boyfriend and I went for lunch to the restaurant and the food was excellent. Best cheesecake I have ever eaten!!!! I would definitely go back. Kudos to the chef!!!!!

Horrific Customer Service
By ,
Went to the Cafe yesterday (12/19/11) and purchased coffee for a friend and myself. As soon as we had gone outside to drink our coffee, the manager had everyone present escorted off the property by the police and cited with criminal trespassing. One woman (neither my friend nor myself) refused to leave and was arrested.

Terrible Experience
By ,
Do not eat at Chart House Restaurant at Tower of The Americas. From the food, to the waiter, to the experience...everything was terrible. This was without a shadow of a doubt the worst dining experience I have ever encountered in my life. We will never step foot back up there. The plates were expensive ( $77 for two people for bad food was depressing) and the portions were tiny! On top of that it tasted horrible!!! The flounder had more bones than I have in my body. Salmon was equally bad. Plus, I've never encountered a waiter as rude as he was in my life and this was supposed to be my 'Birthday Dinner'. We wasted a huge amount of money and time here. This crushed my night and almost ruined my and our entire vacation...Seriously. Yes, go to the observation deck ($10pp), but do not eat at the Chart House Restaurant. This is a fair warning.

Complete Let Down
By ,
The only thing that I liked was the view...and that's why people go. We went for Valentines' Day and ordered 2 appetizers but had to send one back. My boyfriend ordered the lobster bisque and I tried it and swear someone was trying to poison us...we sent that back. I had the scallops on top of risotto (aka: mushy tasteless flat rice) and my boyfriend had the steak...it was edible. The service was good but it was hard to overlook the poor quality in food. I would hate to think that tourists come to San Antonio and think that the Tower represents our good food....if they want to really try a good place...try bohanan's, silo, or wild fish....just go to the bar and see the view...don't eat the food! Mostly edible but not preferable...

I would never recommend anyone to eat there!!
By ,
I had VIP Reservations, had a beautiful view and then the drinks came, I had a drink on the rocks, and I had more ice water than drink, my guest said hers was too sweet to even drink. The food was absolutely the worst I have ever had! I paid for the Chart House Prime Rib. I couldn't believe it, grizzle, fat, and a piece of dried meat that had to have been hidding in the corner of the pan. No one like to complain when entertaining, so I refrained, But I appreciate this opportunity to warn others. Go at sunset, see the view, tailgate before you get there if you know what I mean. Do not order their food. Service was marginal at best. I only left a tip, because of the view, not the food nor the service..You have been warned.

PAY FOR THE VIEW NOT THE FOOD
By ,
The view FANTASTIC, go right a sunset for the best views of the sunset and city lights. BUT DO NOT EAT there. the food was dry, we were served tuna fish pawned off as a crab meat appetizer. Fish plate was dry, and vegs had no flavor. Waiter was a used car salesman druming up a sale. Finally had to tell him that the food sucked and he needed to leave us alone. I would go again but spend my time in the lounge ( yes over priced drinks ) but at least they can screw up a beer. 2 people 1 appetizer, 1 meal, NO drinks 60$. and we did not eat but two bites of appetizer and chocked down half the fish plate. Very disappointed. We made the best of it, and enjoyed the view and out time together. We would not let this ruin our evening and our fun.

I would love to go back!
By ,
Even though Heights are not my thing, this place was really wonderful to visit. My Boyfriend and I went for a getaway weekend to San Antonio and this place was just the place to finish the trip. The view was absolutely beautiful and with the sun setting, eating in the restaurant, it was very romantic. It is a bit pricey in the restaurant but the meal was well worth it! Hats off to the chef.. absolutely delicious!

Pricey but Fun
By ,
The observation deck includes a 4d movie, but for $10.95 it still may sound kinda pricey. There is a $2.00 off coupon you can find in a San Antonio attractions coupon pamphlet widely available at hotels and tourist information places. I recommend looking for that to save some money. I enjoyed it nonetheless. The views are unparalleled, and there are some exhibits about Texas history at the top. I think it's a must-see if you're going to San Antonio. I did not eat at the restaurant, so I can't review how it is. I do know it's priced in the mid-range ($20 - $30 entrees based on the menu), and it rotates, which is cool.
