Bandera Bowl and Funplex

Description

This bowling alley and funplex offers fun for the entire family—even the youngest members—and that is what sets it apart from the competition. One side offers a 56-lane bowling alley, including lanes complete with kiddie bumpers to keep kids balls in the lane rather than in the gutters. The other side offers a soft play area for little kids, as well as videogames, bumper cars and redemption games. Families pack the place on the weekends, but the crowd gets older as the night progresses.

Bowling Fun!!!
By lauren, 6/5/12
I have been going to bandera bowl for quite some time now, and love the place. The staff is friendly and ready to help. This place is more than a bowling alley. On the weekends they do black light bowling with a DJ, and if u like to dance, u can join the many dancing on the dance floor. I work evenings and don't get out of work till 11, so love that they are open till 2, giving me time to have some drinks and bowl before heading home. They have a great bar and great staff in the bar that know how to make all kinds of drinks. The game prices are fair and not outrageous like some of the other bowling alleys in town, and they run all kinds of specials throughout the week. If your looking for a league this is also the place to come, they have all kinds to choose from all days of the week, and for beginners to pros. I've done some of the late night leagues and have alot of fun. Overall I love this place, have been coming for years and will continue to come for years more.

Not going back
By LH, 12/25/10
They were so busy you couldn't get an answer from the people at the desk. No one was available to help you find a ball, and there seems to be a shortage of balls in the size that fits for most people because had we needed an extra large or large in a 12 or 14 we would have been fine locating a ball to use. The snack bar is typical bowling alley food and at least they have refills not like AMF.

Never going back again.
By richard litton, 6/18/10
Arrived and put our name on the waiting list. Counted 20+ lanes open. Waited over an hour before leaving. Asked several times if we could just have one of the many many lanes open. The snippy response was that they were reserving lanes for service industry workers. Lanes stayed about 20 open the entire time we were there. Always bad attitudes at the counter. Place seems to be run by high school kids for high school kids. Ball gets stuck repeatedly and just overall a horrible place to go. We bowl Weekly and the service and atmosphere never got any better. Now we give our money to University Bowl every week.

Having a Birthday?
By Jim, 11/2/09
The people that you deal with to book a BD party were nice, and informative. However, when the date arrives, and you are there with 20 children...things seem to fall apart. The host they assigned was late with everything...children wanted to bowl at the assigned time...but couldn't til the host shows up. She explained she was busy. Pizza was late too...with some parents going to buy their own food to feed hungry kids. One nice offer (we thought) was a bowling pen that Bandera Bowl was offering to birthday child, which could be autographed by all those attending. Seemed so nice, and our child was really looking forward to having her friends sign it. However, we were told by the host as she presented the bill (only thing on time) that we could come back another day for the pin. Seems they were out of them. Was not the best experience, and when we reflected this with their clipboarded 'evaluation of service', we didn't get a cheerfull send-off.

Sooooooo much FUN!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/3/09
I went to Bandera Bowl after prom and again after our fine arts banquet. Both times I went, my friends and I had a blast! The employees were very polite... after our senior prom they gave us our shoes for free and gave us 10 coupons for free bowling. They played good music and it was just so much fun for us!! My experience was NOTHING like a lot of the reviews on here. Bandera Bowl is awesome!

This place is a dump and a joke
By happy_camper, 3/31/09
Girl at the counter was very snobby, was not interested in doing her job. She gave me and a buddy the total for 6 games and I asked her to separate the total and she just said "no you have to pay together..." we had to scrounge the cash together because we were both paying with debit. Asked for a lane with oil and she said "oh they all have oil"...... what a joke it was so dry it was pathetic and when we asked if we could have a lane with oil oil she said no there was a league coming. Nobody for leagues showed, and I know they were not starting anytime soon. Why not oil ALL the lanes instead of just a few, the lanes were in terrible shape from this and you could see the gunk on them. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO BANDERA BOWL.

New owners still a dump
By Benjamin Cooper, 12/17/08
Only way to really enjoy these lanes are to be in a league. The lanes during leagues usually have decent oil, the league prices are good, not too many sandbaggers, and most league bowlers are really cool. The only good thing the new owners have done is get liquor. They ran off the pro shop guy who was really cool and had reasonable prices. The TV's are too small to watch any games, the bathrooms are terrible, you will wait hours on the weekends to get a lane, the place is just plane run down. If you are just trying to bowl acouple games go early and have low expectations and this is the place for you. Don't get me wrong the leagues are fun, but other than that I only go during the day now. Nights and weekends forget about it, I won't waste my time.

What an experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/21/08
This place was so much fun for my family! While the older ones were bowling, the younger ones were playing in the little arena and arcade games! We had so much fun and can't wait to go back!
