We were told to go as soon as the park opened and glad we took that advice. We got four bags of food and ran out before we finished. The boys loved every minute. They tell you not to feed them by hand but most the time you did not have an option they would stick their heads into the car. We ate lunch did the petting zoo and went around again 3 hrs after the first time was not so enjoyable most the animals where gone or asleep. So if you plan to go arrive early at thus time you can not buy enough food.
Our family went here - waited in line to pay for 1 1/2 hours - could not believe it - paid over $50 to get in - and got to see mules, the rare longhorn and bison, several other varieties of animal s - so many cars so many people not a very pleasant experience! The reviews saying go on a off day and not during peak times -it could be better - as for us - we will never go again and positively if anyone asks - will say don't bother -
We go to San Antonio a couple times a year for Sea World. We took a detour here recently. It is kind of neat, though I imagine it is a drag if it is crowded and the animals overfed (we went in November and there were only a few visitors at the time). It is a bit pricey, but not too bad if you use a coupon and don't get any of the upsell extras. My kids had a fun feeding the zebras in particular.
The facilities are clean and well kept, though the petting zoo was mediocre.
I do greatly recommend the San Antonio Zoo over this Wildlife Ranch if you have to choose. The Zoo is nicely sized and reasonably priced. But if you are looking for something different, the ranch is pretty neat.
Just love going to the wildlife ranch with my Grandchildren. They love love love going. Live at New Braunfels and have a season pass. Won't go on weekends or summer tourist time. Way to crowded with long lines of cars. Great when you are able to go at the "off times".
I was with my 3 oldest grandaughters and we laughed and screamed at the animals. we had such a good time..the animals try to stick their head in your car windows...for food..the girls really enjoyed it...want to say I will be back someday...but I live in new york..but Maybe...it would be worth it...it is costly but so much fun...and you only live once...they will never forget it...thank you for being there to entertain us....grandma from penn yan new york
Okay, Let me start by saying that it's way over priced! Maybe those of u that liked it live in a concrete jungle, bc it was NOT at all what the advertisements made it out to be! The petting zoo was a huge joke.
The variety of animals was disappointing to say the least. Basicly we spend almost $100 for my husband to drive 5mph while my kids hung out the window. As for the person "from Australia" who wrote the RAVE review, you must work there...they paid u something!! If this place has better animals than australia then I guess I'll save my time/$$....canceling my trip!!
SAVE YOU hard earned money!!!
After travelling from Australia to Texas I had no idea of what to expect. I was taken to the ranch by a local and was amazed at what was there. There was no lengthy waits the prices of admission were cheap in comparisons to others zoos and wildlife parks in Australia. The collection of animals here was better than most places I have been. To be able to see animals that are only ever in zoos and to be able to feed them was something out of this world as far as experiences go.The Rhinos and giraffes were my favourites and to see an aussie kangaroo a bonus. The variety of species things i had only seen on tv and pictures made this experience one to remember and recommend to others.
The petting zoo for children wonderfully set up and captivates the young at heart. The resturant with a variety of foods for everyone. It was beautifully set out and spotlessly clean and could be used for many functions such as parties or corpoarate functions as it has a large capacity. The educational centre on site is great and informative for the young and the old with real bones, ostrich eggs and life size displays with the added bonus that the giraffes can come in there as well.
the employees there smiley helpful and happy to oblige with any questions or information. The ranch also had a plentiful supply of quality gifts and mechandise to add to the experience. it is definately worth the time and the money and I have recommended it to Australians travelling to Texas.
I WOULD NEVER RECOMEND this place to anyone. Unless you are rich! $17.00 PER ADULT and $10.50 Per KID!!! AND the 2 HOUR WAIT TO drive in this place was UNREAL!!!!! They had no signs to let you know what it cost to go in this place, and we found out about this place threw the informaton center in by the Alamo, and they told us it was $11.00 for an adult and 7.50 for children. So needless to say we sat in a very hot car for 2 hours to find out the park was $6 more a person then what we were told. Doesn't sound like much but when you have 8 people and 5 kids that adds up! And we tried to talk to a manager when we were there and all she said, was sorry about your luck! After 2 HOURS!!!! Never again would I even try to go to this place!
We have been there 2 times and can't wait until we go again in March. If you are into coupons you can normally find one in the visitors guide that you can pick up all around the city. We always buy an extra bag of food just to have. We never feel rushed or hurried. You can pull off so other cars can pass you if you want to stop and look. From the ostriches pecking the car window, zebras nibbling your hand, bison sneezing on you, goats and deer type animals standing in the middle of the road, and the long horns walking right up to your car~it is GREAT! If you take a picnic lunch you can eat there on the grounds. The petting zoo is nice~the goats are very friendly. They even have a round cage like thing with lemurs and birds in it. Don't forget to see the giraffes and the wallabies. Again we love that place and can't wait to go back.
