Ripley's Believe It Or Not! / Plaza Theatre Of Wax

Description

Located directly across from the Alamo, this museum displays shocking wax mannequins so similar to the heroes, celebrities and fictional characters they represent, that it's almost creepy. You'll see Jim Carrey, Charlton Heston, Frankenstein, Dracula and many more. You'll feel like you got your money's worth in this odd two-for-one museum. With Ripley's Believe It or Not!, you'll find yourself saying, "I didn't know that," "Ooo, gross!" and "Holy cow!" The weird items should be safe for kids, but if you have a squeamish little one, don't go into the cellar.

Parking scams
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/28/12
When you visit downtown San Antonio, never park in unattended parking lots on level ground, where you pay the metal box. If there is not an attendant on site, and if you don't get a receipt, your car will most likely be booted or towed. The average response time for the private enforcement company to remove the boot, is 20-45 minutes. Also, you will be forced to pay over $100 to have the company remove the boot, even if you have paid the full parking price in advance as posted.

Horrible!!! NOT WORTH ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY!
By Torry, 3/30/12
Did not like anything! It was way too expensive for one thing. Sixty bucks for two people for the combo. I did not enjoy it at all. The wax museum was like looking at dead people and gave me the creeps. I actually was sick to my stomach and had to get out of there So, so wished we had skipped this entirely!

Parents Cautioned
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/29/09
My wife and 10 year old went during spring break. without warning, after entering, there is a penis exhibit with many phalic objects from ancient civilizations and some statues with penises, including as my wife described it, one with a really huge penis. They should warn you of this content before you take your child there.

Not a good value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/08
Considering a family of 4 can go to Sea World for about $160 and spend an entire day, I don't see that spending $55 for this is a good value. It is an interesting place, and fun to go through once, just realize you may be disappointed after it is done that you spent so much money to go through it.

Ripleys was interesting
By JasonD, 3/30/08
Went there in August 2005. It was interesting. Had alot of crazy and strange things (i.e. the world's tallest man, the longest tongue, etc.). It's a neat place to visit once.

BE CAREFUL!! when buying combo passes
By celia, 8/2/06
If you want to look at the Wax museum make sure that you are in the Wax museum. There are other Ripley's (Guiness, Davie Crocket, etc) that are not associated to the Ripley's Wax museum. It is misleading that they offer combo passes but that doesn't include the Wax museum. The Davie Crocket and Ripley's house of horror are not worth the $$. The Guiness Records is nice but not that great!!!
