Description

This Spanish-Mediterranean mansion, located in the heart of well-to-do Alamo Heights, houses impressive artworks from 19th and 20th Century America and Europe, in addition to one of the largest theater arts collections in the United States. Its grounds are as lovely as its collections, boasting fountains, streams, goldfish ponds and Japanese-style gardens. Recent touring exhibitions include works by Georgia O'Keefe, a collection of pop art and American Pictorial Photography. The auditorium and portions of the McNay Art Museum are available for private functions.

A PHOTOGRAPHER AND MYSELF TOOK MY SISTER HERE FOR SOME WEDDING PHOTOS...THE BACKGROUND, THE LANDSCAPE, THE ATMOSPHERE IS SO BEAUTIFUL, THIS IS WHERE ILL BE HEADING FOR MY FUTURE WEDDING PHOTOS, OR JUST TO WALK AROUND!

Quiet Romantic walk

The architecture is just beautiful, the collection is uncomparable and the grounds are so gorgeous. The site of many weddings and portrait sessions, this is one of the most beautiful places to take a nice stroll with a lover. Plenty of spots to have many romantic moments. And...it is free to visit!

I liked the overall beauty of the place.Driving through and seeing all the beautiful trees and flowers, the landscape was just magnificent!!Walking inside was so beautiful!!!

DELIGHTFUL ! !

What a wonderful surprise! A small but solid art collection in a fabulous Southwestern-style mansion. My favorite Mondrian I've ever seen; Picasso sketches, a good selection of Impressionists, sculpture of a nice variety, an interesting traveling exhibit while we were there, breathtaking architecture, well-tended gardens, and a jolly gift shop. Our whole group enjoyed our visit, from the 12-year-old up to the 55-year-olds.

RELAXING AFTERNOON

MY HUSBAND AND I HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE AT THE MCNAY ART MUSUEM. THEY HAVE SOME WONDERFUL ART ON DISPLAY AND THE FACT THAT THE MUSUEM IS ACTUALLY A VERY OLD MANSION MAKES IT ALL THE BETTER. THE EMPLOYEES WERE VERY POLITE AND IF YOU HAD ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT ANYTHING THERE WAS ALWAYS SOMEONE CLOSE BY TO HELP YOU OUT. I WOULD RECOMMEND VISTING THIS MUSUEM TO ANYONE WHO WOULD BE VISITING THE SAN ANTONIO AREA.

McNay and its Beauty

Overall one of the most breathtaking visits to the Museum and the beautiful atmosphere that was once a home mansion that belong to Ms. McNay before her passing. Inside interior remains the same and overall experience with different art exhibits brings out the beauty of this historic home in SA.

this is truely a treasure in san antonio, we went for a senior trip and it was exquisite. the gardens are so lovely, and plus, it's the only free museum anyone can think of. there are some lovely Piccaso's and one O'Keefe painting along with a VanGogh. it's definiately worth the trip
