Swig Martini Bar, San Antonio

From the minute we walked in I knew we were in my favorite kind of place, classy, yet modern/sleek, not uptight, and welcoming. We grabbed two seats at the bar, and were greeted immediately by the nicest bartender ever. My boyfriend and I had the dirty martini and it was fantastic. Just the right amount of dirty for me haha! Looked over their extensive menu of cocktails, wine list etc and was extremely impressed by the selection. Wish I could have tried everything but alas, did not stay enough days. Definitely will return on our next trip to SA. This place is a fantastic gem and I sure wish we had one closer to me in the DFW area. Oh--also checked in on Facebook and received a free martini...What a great surprise. To steal from the song--"We Love this Bar!"

When you visit downtown San Antonio, never park in unattended parking lots on level ground, where you pay the metal box. If there is not an attendant on site, and if you don't get a receipt, your car will most likely be booted or towed. The average response time for the private enforcement company to remove the boot, is 20-45 minutes. Also, you will be forced to pay over $100 to have the company remove the boot, even if you have paid the full parking price in advance as posted.

There is so much growth and development in the Alamo Ranch area and NO competition....PLEASE consider the AR area for your new location and SHOW THEM HOW TO BREAK ALL RECORDS IN FIRST WEEK REVENUES!!!!! TOTALLY untapped potential in the 78253 zip!!!!!

What a perfect night out! Not such a young crowd but still full of energy. This p[lace was great, the drinks were phenominal ( a little pricey but they were worth it), the music kept us moving in and out of our chairs, and being able to relax and smoke a cigar was fantastic. Great place, need more like it. Only downside is the dancefloor if you want to call it that. Tiny little space in front of small stage but we danced by our table instead so all was good. Also had a nice selection of cigars to choose from.

I think cigar bars are going the way of the dinosaurs. Unfortunate really for people like me, who just want a place to have a good smoke and relax with a drink. Swig has a limited selection of cigars but what they have are high quality (and priced higher than what I'd normally pay for). But, being on the Riverwalk, I expected to pay tourist prices. Paula was my server, she was ever attentive and super friendly. In fact, the only reason I didn't go back the following night was because she wasn't working. She cut my cigar carefully but let me finish the cut (I cut more aggressive). They had what sounded like a rockabilly band but I sat outside. I could still hear them well enough. Several staff members made sure I was well taken care of and comfortable. I drank beer that night, for $6 they give you a pint. For $9 you can get a 22 oz. glass, but by my calculations, you'd be paying more for less in that regard. My cigar cost $12. All total with tax and (a generous) tip: $35. Paula was worth it, she earned that tip! I'll definitely be going back to Swig when I return to SA!

This place is great place to stop by for some stogies on the river walk. After going to a failed cigar bar to start a bachelor party, SWIG saved the night by providing some cigars to start the night. I do have to say the bartenders were a little quiet…that or maybe coming from Vegas I expected too much from them. Other than that the place was a great place to stop by and listen to some music and enjoy some stoges!!

This past Saturday night was my first time at Swig... I enjoyed the atmosphere and the very chic and trendy decor. Although this is a cigar bar I didn't even notice any smoke, so don't let that turn you off. Our bartender Jackie was fantastic. I tend to be a very impatient patron. I always take care of the staff but I do expect a very high level of service. Nothing drives me out of a bar more quickly than having to beg for another drink! But even with the extremely busy bar the staff managed a very high level of personal service. We had a great time and will definately be visiting Swig again!

My attempt here is not to make this more than what it is…but, I have been to chic bars in Philadelphia, New York City, Houston, Dallas, Austin, Los Angeles, etc., and, I must say the class, of this location, coupled with the great staff, ranks at the highest levels. It is a favorite of mine and, has been, for three years.

I tried several martinis, with the Chocolate martini being my favorite. Other places do not compare to this bar. I like the atmosphere altough I could do w/o the smokes, but I suffer through it for the drinks. The price is about in line with martinis and worth it considering the wonderful mixology that goes on to make these drinks. Looking forward to my next visit which should be soon.

I was a little afraid to get a drink in this place because frankly I don't particularly care for the taste of strong alcohol...you might as well just do shots. I told the bartender this...and he suggested I might like an Almond Joy. After the first sip I was hooked....whenever I am in San Antonio this place is high on my list of places to visit...wish I could find the recipe...until I do...I will just have to keep going back.
