Watch Your Bill - Tourist Trap
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/15/08
Some co-workers and I had drinks at Mad Dogs on a week night. Besides the slow service, we had a good time until it was time to leave. Guy #1 paid cash ($100+) for several rounds of drinks during the evening. There were several other rounds of drinks that everyone was going to split. When the final bill came, it showed that none of the drinks had been paid for the whole night.
We first questioned the waitress. Her only comment was that the bill was correct. She then walked away not to be seen again. Our next step was to talk to the manager. His response was that he was not able to show what our table had ordered throughout the evening. Since we did not have a receipt for the previous drinks that were purchased, there was nothing we could prove.
In the end, we paid the bill to the exact amount and left. (The waitress already decided to take her own $100+ tip.) I mentioned to the manager that I would appropriately review Mad Dog's on all of the popular travel websites.
Be sure to ask for a receipt if paying with cash. I would also ask for a receipt with each round of drinks if running a tab.
