Durty Nelly's Irish Pub
When you think of San Antonio, you don't necessarily think of an Irish pub, now do you? Well, think again. Durty Nelly's, located on the River Walk on the river level of the Hilton hotel, is a rollicking good time. Pull up a chair, order a beer (or two, or ten) and sing along with the pianist. A versatile guy, the pianist takes requests and can play just about anything. Probably the most fun thing to do is munch on the peanuts and toss the shells on the floor. Yes, it is allowed!
While the Irish Pub fare may be mediocre to good, the entertainment is without equal. The piano player plays little else but requests, and there is plenty of audience participation. My sides hurt from laughing most nights.
Unless you are a stuffed shirt or a prude you can't help but have a grand time! A friend of mine went there years ago and told me I had to go. I am so glad I did. I can go to a fancy place anytime in any city but this was the most fun I had experienced in years! Thanks for being there and I will be back next time I'm in town!!!!!!
Found it one night I was in town on business. Had the most fun ever.
The piano player gets the crowd involved, he has people who come in sit with others when it gets crowded. I was there once right after 9-11 and had piano player play "God Bless the USA" Everyone was on their feet hugging everyone else. Great place to have a great time. Right on the Riverwalk.
This place was great. The piano man made the
night outstanding. I think his name was Brooks and he said he played at Durty Nellys four nights a week. The way he kept the crowd involved with the music made the drinking too much fun. A great place for a diverse group. No question everyone will have a great time. THANKS TO DURTY NELLY!
FANTASTIC...Just so you know, It's been there a long time. I was stationed at 'FT. Sam' in 1976 and went to Durty Nelly's way back then. I'll never forget, It was the first place I had ever been where you throw peanut shells on the floor. We would sit there for hours drinking and singing. What a great time we had. I always had an Irish coffee (OF COURSE) for the last drink of the night. Someday I hope to take my husbund there, I know he will love it too.
The piano man made the whole experience!! It was the best atmosphere I have ever been in, in a pub. They had every kind of import beer you can think of. It is right off of the river walk, and right down the street from the Alamo.
