Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen

Description

This is the first San Antonio location for Pappadeaux, a Houston-based chain of Cajun and Creole seafood restaurants. The rustically decorated building is huge and always crowded during serving hours, so expect a wait. The ambiance is bustling and lively, however, and the food is served in generous portions. The kitchen serves a wide variety of fresh shrimp, crawfish, oysters, crab and other seafood, which they will prepare fried, blackened or grilled. Cajun dirty rice and red beans and rice are only two of the many side dishes; there are also four varieties of gumbo as well as etouffee and bisques. Desseerts include simple Southern favorites such as key lime pie, chocolate praline cheesecake and a banana crepe ice cream sundae.

Great place to take guest
By ,
We have been to several Pappadeauxs in Texas but really enjoyed entertaining friends here in San Antonio. We had to remind them and ourselves about the portion sizes which can often feed two. The atmosphere was energetic yet appropriate for dinning and socializing. The menu was expansive and quite affordable. A good waiter will caution you about portion sizes for appetizers prior to ordering your meal otherwise have a great midnight snack.

Not impressed at all
By ,
I read great reviews about this place I just had to go with my family. The ambiance is great and so was the live music. However, the food was not worth the price we paid. The portions are big when is comes to side dishes only, like the mashed potatoe but the overall flavor is not what I expected. I've had better tasting fish at Red Lobster. The service is really good though. The waiters and staff are nice and always at your service. We won't go there again though, unless the price is cheaper or the food tastes as good as they charge. The plus, their desserts are delicious and in big portions. Those were worth it.

Twas very good

Food was great and ambiance as well. I'd read very mixed reviews and negatives about the service. Both were great and I'd recommend it. I had a seafood salad with lobster as well as alligator appetizer - I recommend them both.

We enjoy the food and include it in our plans anytime we are in San Antonio. It is not a complete trip if we do not go eat there. Awesome

Dreaming of Blackened Orleans

The food and ambiance in this restaurant is what makes the experience great. The ambiance is rustic plantation house meets Bourbon Street jazz club, directional lighting means private-feeling tables. The food is simply amazing. Before you order, it might seem over-priced, until you realize your huge plate will feed your guest as well. Everything from the bread at your table to the salad dressings on your salad (except low-fat ranch)are hand made! The only thing wrong is the location, if you are coming from I-10, one exit will trap you in traffic and the next exit will make you squeal into the parking lot.
