Description

Houston Museum of Natural Science is an interesting showplace offering a wide variety of exhibits that are worthy of a full day's outing. The three-level live butterfly exhibit fascinates the young, as does the Challenger Learning Center with its great introduction to space science. Definitely spend some time exploring the dinosaur exhibits. Of equal appeal to the adults in the crowd are the Wiess Energy Hall and the Cullen Hall of Gems and Minerals. If you need a break, enjoy an IMAX film or sit in on one of Burke Baker Planetarium shows. Entry fees and opening hours depend on the exhibit you wish to see.

NEVER going back.
By Jessy, 7/12/07
Although the museum was clean, we went through the whole thing in 1.5 hours. Alot of the exhibits were relics, and the staff was unhelpful. The Ancient Rome exhibit had artifacts, but no information about them except for a couple sentences. Artifacts are all this museum has, and most aren't even real.

Glad we aren't thinking about going back!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/19/05
Hated the long lines for tickets. Better know which tickets you want so you do not have to wait in line again. The Butterfly Center was great, wearing bright colors does work. Suggest to eat somewhere else before going, unless you do not mind eating McDonald's at a slightly expensive rate than normal. A lot of good restaurants on Montrose. Exhibits are okay, changing from time to time. The service from the Visitor Service Assistants are good, very knowledgeable. Can not say the same for the help from the Cashier's in the Gift Shops, very rude, not helpful, talk amongst each other, and ignore you when you are at the register ready to check out. Especially in the Gift Shop near the Butterfly Exhibit. Be sure to know what you want in that gift shop or be warned you will most likely not get any help, by at least one young lazy teenager. Went on the weekend and laziness was her middle name. Don't know if they have a complaint booth but would like to let some people know.

Good place
It is a good place to take the whole family. Kids and adults can learn together. The special exhibits they get from time to time are great as well.

We had a great time!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/25/05
The butterfly exhibit was fun, and one actually landed on my father, it was great! My family really had a great time at Imax. The best part of our trip was the smiles on my family's faces.

A huge squid scared my boy
By Capt'n Mal's Dad, 10/9/06
We had a real good time touring the museum. My oldest boy was impressed with the interactive center where he got to play with a pendulum and mirrors and lots of buttons to push. My wife and I learned a lot and had fun with our boys.

Great for kids
By John, 8/27/05
There is a butterfly exhibit that is great for little kids to enjoy. The IMAX theater usually has a couple of films to choose from. The gift shop has alot of neat toys that will expand kid's minds and teach them about science.

The main event changes ever so often, adding to variety. The butterfly exhibit is one of a kind. The IAMX is forever remembered. The dinosaur leaves you in awe.
