Harwin Shopping District
Head to Harwin Street and you will experience "guerrilla shopping" at its finest. Of course, the excursion is not actually hazardous, but you do need to be prepared to fight the crowds and do some hard-nosed haggling to get the best deal. Along the strip, more than 300 stores offer enough authentic and knockoff designer merchandise to make your head spin. Featuring purses, perfumes, watches, shoes and more, the area literally sells some of the best and worst goods the world has to offer. The two most noteworthy sections are the 9800 block and the 8000 block. Specific hours and credit card acceptance will vary by store.
The stores that are wholesale only and require a tax ID number to enter - do they require only the number or a certificate? Do they ask for photo ID or anything? I want to go to one store in particular that requires a number and I have my mother-in-laws number but she is unable to go with me on this trip... any experience with this?
The sign has nothing to do with honoring the terrorists, who crashed planes into the Twin Towers or the Pentagon. It honors a sixth century Muslim imam. I was outraged when I first saw the email, but the email is NOT TRUE!!! These people are just like the rest of us. They are simply trying to make a living the good old American way: by selling products and creating jobs. The proprietors should be respected for that and not vilified for some phony email that was meant to cause people to go after good, American citizens.
if it is true that this muslim store was closed on 9/11 because they wanted to honor one of the Bast. who bombed the twin towers ,then they need to be shut down and run out of this country , i hope all of houston puts them out of business ,and runs them back to where they came from !!!!
In regards to the posts about the sign in front of a store at Harwin Market Street supposedly commemorating one of the 09/11 terrorists, please check out Snopes and Urbanlegends for clarification. These rumors began back in 2009.
OMG.......talk about hipocrites with a double standard. The Muslims want the Americans to be tolerant and understanding, yet in all their hiprocricy, they can incite as many outrageous acts as they want and hide behind their (so called) religion. When the heat is on all of a sudden......"oh.....its a religious thing." BS.........Perhaps all Muslims need to print out this American Indian saying and paste it on their noses.........."man with double mind speak with forked tounge." Let's get this right Americans........the Muslim community is talking out of both sides of their mouths.
