Six Flags Over Texas
Often referred to as "The Entertainment Capital of Texas," Six Flags offers 200 acres (809,371 square meters) of rides, shows and attractions. For many years, this family amusement park has delighted Texans and others from around the world. Ride the 109-foot-tall (33 meters) "Batman the Ride," which travels up to 50 miles per hour (80 kilometers per hour) and watch stuntmen perform as Wild West gunslingers in an action-filled street shootout. Rates vary during the winter months. The park is usually closed between early January and early March, reopens daily for two weeks in March, and then opens on weekends until the area schools let out in late May. Phone ahead or visit the website to check on any schedule changes.
They heavily advertise a 4 pack of season tickets with free parking. NO where do they mention that only one person out of the 4 can use the parking pass. By the time you find out it is too late and , surprise, it is not refundable. I tried contacting the park itself twice and a V.P once telling them that if nothing else, they should correct their website and tell people upfront BEFORE the non refundable tickets are purchased. Their refusal to do this makes it clear they are INTENTIONALLY being dishonest, all the way up to senior management. It is a bait and switch tactic, false advertising, a scam and unethical. Their response was I could buy some more parking passes. If such a big business is commited to such dishonest tactics you have to wonder what else is going on. Something that cost hundreds of dollars that was supposed to provide some fun has now left a bitter taste.
I have been going to 6 Flags since the 60's as a kid. The rides have always been great. The lines can be very long. Could use more misters when it is hot.
The food service at the park is an "F". LONG lines to buy over priced drinks and really bad food. You can smell the burnt grease while you stand in the long lines. I have seen burger patties piled up waiting to be thrown on a bun. The burgers have nasty meat and are warmed up at best. Low grade of meat I am assuming to save money. All the food places are under staffed and slow. Fright fest and Holiday in the park there is better food because they bring in outside vendors who know how to do it. It is still pricey but their food is 10 times better than the nasty park food. Why cant 6 Flags open a couple of restaurants on site ? Your other option is to put a cooler in your car with food and drinks and enjoy a picnic during the day.
The park needs to sink some money into restroom facilities. They may be the same ones from when I was a kid. They need more and larger restroom facilities. THey are not clean. When you walk into them it smells like you are entering a sewage treatment plant. Nasty toilets and urine smell abounds.
You can buy beer. But only up to 4 o clock. SO if you waited all day for the sun to go down to sit and enjoy a beer forget it. You need your drivers license to buy a beer. IF you get a flash pass you have to leave an ID. You can leave your season pass card but then you miss out on any season pass card discounts. Leave your drivers license then no beer. So which do you do ??
I am sure the midway type game booths bring in the money. But they are so annoying. At a carnival you expect it but here it can be annoying. The sound system is turned up sooooooo loud when you walk by your ears hurt from the teenage kids yelling into their microphones. Did I mention how damn loud the sound is turned up ? Cant the park turn down the volume ? It is already loud enough in the park. I personally walk as fast as I can to get away from the screaming kids
that run the games.
The rides are a great draw but these are things the park could really improve on to make it a great day. Maybe they can't since they are in bankruptcy.
Six Flags is great! It is home to the world's first tubular roller coaster, log flume ride and many more. The up keep in the park could use a littlemore work even though it is fine. If they went over the park with a fine tooth comb and repainted and did a fabulous landscape job this park would be world class. After all they are about 50 years old. If you go to Disneyland the park looks brand new and fresh. This is what this park needs to look like....fresh and new. The shows are great and the park is conviently placed inbetween Forth Worth and Dallas which makes getting their very easy. If the park were to make bettre use of the air condidoined theatres that would be fantastic. I went a few days ago and saw that they were not using the Majestic Theatre only to be playing a video inside again a golden opprotunity passed. This park is great and I love going a season pass is well worth it if you plan on going a few times in the summer. So to recap this article Six Flags needs to invest in more theming, paint and attention to detail instead of spending $10 million dollars to renovate The Texas Giant they need to sink that investment elsewhere in the aprk and this would be a world class park to visit. And a little fun fact This is the first Six Flags and was modled after Disneyland.

best park ever trust me!!
Lines for rides were 60 - 90 min. No drinking fountains anywhere. Machines would not take new $5 bill. Had to wait in line 40 min to buy 4 drinks for $17, and they were out of Coke. Employees were rude and not knowledgeable on advertised specials or discounts. My son stepped in gum a few feet from 3 sweepers talking together. Park entry seems reasonable but everything inside the park is waaaay over priced. I've been to tons of amusement parks and this is the very worst one ever!!!
