Many unique & interesting exhibits.
By Love it, 3/28/12
Went, by mistake, the weekend of spring break . . . but was so impressed. So much to see. We did take our time and let others pass as we watched the animals/birds. Had a great day learning about the animals. Staff is considerate & knowledgeable. Clean & places to rest. Will go again next year. Thanks for the work keeping it open & improving it.

Membership is worth it
By Erin, 2/23/12
The aquarium itself is fantastic. A ton to see and do and a lot of interactive elements including feedings of different animals, expert talks, and a tribal dance at several times on the weekends in the Mundo Maya Exhibit. Ticket prices aren't cheap, and discounts to there aren't easy to find, which is a shame. What we did was get an annual membership (which has the bonus of not having to deal with the line). For an individual or a family, you've paid for it on 3 visits. It's a good activity option during summer when it's hot out and winter when it's cold out. With little ones, they adore it.

WAY WAY TO OVER PRICED!
By Jen, 1/13/12
This is a nice place but it is WAY to over priced....especially for bringing children! Come on...I know it costs a lot to feed animals and so forth but the Dallas zoo is MUCH MUCH more reasonable......don't you all get grants too??!?! Military gets a two dollar discount........wow THANKS.....that covered the tax that wasn't included.

What a Waste of Money!
By Eva, 1/4/12
We paid $45 for two of us to see the aquarium. It was at least 90 degrees in that place! It was so hot and uncomfortable that we could only stay for about 15 minutes before finally leaving. We say maybe two birds and a couple of penguins. That was it. Huge waste of money! It would have been nice if it wasn't so hot in there, but it was just intolerable for me.

Nice Aquarium
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/11/11
I'm really quite surprised at the negative reviews. My girlfriend and I were in Dallas for a couple of days to see a Jrock concert, couldn't really find anything else to do so we went here. I found the price to be quite reasonable and it was a nice little aquarium. It maybe isn't the biggest most impressive aquarium in the country, but it certainly was fun for us and had some cool things to see. The animals looked to be pretty well taken care of and it was a clean place. You got the chance to feed some birds and watch some fishes and a big turtle be fed. We did have a bit of trouble trying to find the exit, but that's the only negative thing I can think of.

Move that jaguar
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/14/11
It states it is an aquarium and it has a jaguar in a small glass cage. It gets no privacy and obviously is going stir crazy. If the aquarium was someone's home who kept their dog in a box all its life the owners would be put in jail for animal abuse. Why does the aquarium get by with such inhuman treatment of an animal that clearly does not belong in an AQUARIUM!

Not what you expect
The Dallas World Aquarium is an experience unlike any other animal exhibit in the world. I mean this wholeheartedly. Animal aficionados flock from around the world just to visit this place. Why? Because here in the heart of Dallas is a collection of animals so rare, that few or even no other zoos have some of these animals. If you are patient and take you time, this place will be one of the most rewarding zoo going experiences you will ever have. It does not fully live up to it's name of Aquarium. I have come the accept this. When it first opened it was just the small aquariums downstairs, but as its prosperity grew more and more was added. The list of animals is just amazing. Giant Otter (only 15 in the US) Orinoco Crocodiles (only breeding pair outside of the wild, and there are only 250 left in the wild) 10 species of new world monkey (largest collection of new world monkeys in the US) Antillean Manatees (only ones in the US) Water Opossum (only one in captivity in the world) Birds - Where to begin here. I know people who have made multi-day pilgrimages to the DWA just to see their birds. Many species not seen anywhere else in the world. I could go on and on, but the point is, don't go the the DWA with the intention of seeing a traditional aquarium. It isn't. It is a lot more. As for the price. It isn't too high at all. Unlike any of the zoos in the state you will visit, the DWA receives absolutely no funds from the city. This is a completely private enterprise, and as such, must charge a higher price than would a traditional zoo. But, go look at other world class aquariums and the price is right in line with what you will pay at other places. Also, if you get the chance, please indulge yourself in the excellent food the DWA has to offer. The owner is a renowned chef, and the food is equal to that you would receive at any fancy restaurant.

Great theming, poor layout and value
By Buck B, 5/25/11
The rain forest looked amazing. It did feel like you were walking through the canopy of a real rain forest...the part that confused me was what do rain forests have to do with aquariums? We spent a good half hour navigating tight corridors with a stroller, weaving in and out of school groups. These corridors, as you can imagine, are completely impassible when you have a few dozen kids all stopped and jockeying for position to see another bird in a cage. Once we finally worked our way through the rain forest, the rest of the experience was equally disappointing. The fish tanks consisted of a few big tanks, which to be honest, are not that different than what you will find in a dentist's office. There was an outdoor penguin experience that we did not get to visit because it was raining. This did not effect my overall rating, but it is worth mentioning that the exhibit existed. The only fun part was the shark tunnel. It is a underwater tunnel where sharks, fish, and turtles swim along side you and over your head. But when school groups are there, the tunnel is more of a fire hazard than a fun experience. I would probably not recommend this aquarium, since there are other options in the area, and at $20 per adult, it wasn't worth it.
