Description

Off the shores of White Rock Lake lies the garden of a lifetime; the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. The 66-acres of lush, perfectly manicured landscapes hold a treasure trove of trees, bushes and flowers are sure to make anyone green with envy. Quaint and quiet walkways meander throughout the grounds with countless coves. The DeGolyer House, a 1940s-style Spanish mansion, is also located on the grounds. Tours of the house and its sculpture garden are offered. The Johnson Color Gardens, the Woman's Garden, and the Lay Ornamental Garden with water walls are exquisite features of the picturesque grounds. Check website for more details.

Fun at the Dallas Arboretum
By Debbie, 11/29/12
I purchased a family membership back in March. I've enjoyed taking friends and family to the Dallas Arboretum this year. My son and his family were in town last week and were able to view the Chihuly exhibit, since it was extended through December. My grandkids really enjoyed playing in the Pumpkin Village. I have never seen so many pumpkins ! The Eddie Coker concert Memorial weekend was great ! The children I took had so much fun ! I'm looking forward to viewing the Chihuly exhibit at night, next week !

Lost Wedding Venue
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/17/11
Booked the Poetry Garden months ahead. Reconfirmed two days prior to our wedding. We showed up this Saturday and the front office had no record of our special day. Kept telling me to call catering. Scream! No one knew about our special day. I've tried all morning to talk to someone...no return calls.

Perfect!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/25/11
My girlfriend and I went to Dallas Bloom in 2010 and loved it. We went back in March 2011 and I asked her to marry me while we were there. She said yes!

Rated best in the world-Well Deserved!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/10
We went to the Arboretum for the first time last week. We read on MSN.com that it is one of the 14 most beautiful gardens in the world and wanted to go see the tulips in March, but you know how life can get so busy! The Fall festival 'Autumn at the Arboretum' was in full swing while we were there and it was amazing! There were tons of pumkins all over the gardens. I couldn't believe a garden could be so pretty in the Fall...in Texas! We talked to a volunteer at the Info Booth who said the garden is truly beautiful year-round and the flowers change with every season. Plus there are four different festivals throughout the year to celebrate the different seasons with themes and family activities. We ended up buying a membership that day and are looking forward to exploring all that the garden has to offer. What a great place to escape while still being within the city! It is no wonder MSN rated the Dallas Arboretum as one of the best in the WORLD! It is truly a must-see!!

Family membership- a great value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/7/10
I have had a family membership for over 15 years now and we take my grandchildren about 4-5 times a year. We spend the day, take photos, relax and enjoy the beauty that is God's handiwork in every flower, pond and tree! My husband and I will go countless times during the year just to take photos. People complaining about the price should look at the family membership, it will pay for itself. Kids need to get away from the computer games and the TV and enjoy nature to run and play in. People complaining about the food, pack your own food, bring fruit and snacks, the Arboretum is not an amusement park, it is to be enjoyed and appreciated. There are many people working to make the place beautiful, thank them and they will smile at you. Dallas is a great place and so is The Arboretum, come back y'all!

we'd love to go but....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/31/09
We're planning to go this first week of August..actually the 5th, my husband's birthday. Maybe then we invite 4 friends who have not been there ever since. I'm sure they would love it there...just seeing the colors and ambiance as much as I did. But one thing that keeps us from pushing through with the plan, is the $8.00 fee and still we have to pay for the &5.00 parking fee. It's affordable though for those who aren't struggling on their budget. However, my husband won't mind celebrating his birthday in what ever way we can just afford...a heartfelt prayer and love for each other for 19 years.
