Description

Off the shores of White Rock Lake lies the garden of a lifetime; the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. The 66-acres of lush, perfectly manicured landscapes hold a treasure trove of trees, bushes and flowers are sure to make anyone green with envy. Quaint and quiet walkways meander throughout the grounds with countless coves. The DeGolyer House, a 1940s-style Spanish mansion, is also located on the grounds. Tours of the house and its sculpture garden are offered. The Johnson Color Gardens, the Woman's Garden, and the Lay Ornamental Garden with water walls are exquisite features of the picturesque grounds. Check website for more details.

Friends, Family, and the kids!

Take the day off from the hustle and bustle of the weekend. The Dallas Arborettum offers a fun and relaxing afternoon just browsing and chatting with the family. Its affordable especially if you take the train from the north. Everyone will have a great time without breaking the bank and the A&BG!

Hidden Treasure

Fabulous gardens with dazzling display of flowers throughout the year. Perfect family outing - lots of children's activites, especially during spring and fall festivals. Bring a picnic or dine at the cafe serving delicious salads and sandwiches. We love going to Thursday evening concerts overlooking White Rock Lake with spectacular sunsets. The Arboretum had the best gift shop- our yard is full of interesting items we purchased there.

One of the Metroplex's best kept secrets!
By ,
Take your camera and lots of film; the Arboretum is a vacation for your eyes! In the spring, hundreds of thousands of bulbs bloom in progression as "Dallas Blooms" creates an uncomparable artist's palette of color. Mix in azaleas and other spring-blooming trees and shrubs of all varieties, and you can get lost in the color! In autumn, the chrysanthemum display will knock your socks off as will the vignettes provided for the perfect family photo! Getting new ideas for my home garden is one of the benefits. I've visited the Arboretum (a 3-hour drive for more than 10 years, and have only been disappointed when *I've* shown up too early for springtime.
