Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park
The historic Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park features lush, manicured gardens and a recreated Victorian-era town. Nestled near downtown, the expansive park is accentuated with beautiful homes and establishments. Volunteers demonstrate weaving, cooking and welding among other activities from that time period to those looking for an insight into Texan history. The site is an official history museum and is affiliated with The Dallas County Heritage Society. The society plays host to several events throughout the year; the annual Candlelight Country Fair and Old Fashioned Fourth of July draw major crowds.

Beautiful grounds, wonderful wedding experience
By A Yahoo Contributor, 11/4/11
My husband and I had our wedding at Dallas Heritage Village on Oct 8th, 2011. I visited several times with my family when my brothers and I were children. We knew it as Old City Park then. This live museum is perfect for a wedding. The grounds are beautiful and you get a great view of downtown Dallas. I was surprised at how many of our 200 guests did not know about this hidden treasure. We received numerous compliments regarding our decision to have our wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception there. I'm sure several of our guests will be returning during normal business hours to tour the buildings. We had various out of town gusts including several people in from Europe, everyone loved Old City Park! The sales director, Michelle Davis, is a gem. She was accommodating, friendly, and professional every step of the way. Weddings can be incredibly stressful so it was nice to work with someone as genuine as Michelle. I highly recommend this as a wedding venue to anyone looking to have a unique experience. We used Glory House Catering who is on the Dallas Heritage Village preferred vendor list. They were excellent!
It was as if you were back in time. The old school house (quite cool inside), the 3 room hotel, the wonderful victorian homes and the remarkable peace one experiences upon climbing the gentle slope of the quaint cemetery nestled amongst the trees were unforgetable. Smell beef stew simmering in cast iron over a wood fire with freshly picked garden spice or turn your attention to the sweet smell of the fragrance garden outside the kitchen window. Walk a few steps past a busy hen house and observe a skilled blacksmith at work crafting a neighbor's branding iron. Or if you choose, just spread a blanket and rest among native wild flowers. There's much to do and much to see at Old City Park. It's as if you took a trip back in time and you weren't in any hurry to return to the 21st Century.
