Trail Dust Steakhouse
Trail Dust Steakhouse offers dinner and dancing to live country music. The large communal tables here make dining fun in a casual, inviting atmosphere. The restuarant is family-friendly, with a tall slide just for the kids. Plan to have lots of fun when you come here and don't dress up too much - neckties are snipped off guests' necks and pinned to the walls. The food is traditional Texas fare - juicy burgers and tender steaks. Reservations for special parties are available.
The food was not fancy, like cafeteria food really. We ordered a "pound of steak", but it came out as two well-done hamburger patties. I imagine this would be a good place to bring kids though (their cowboy theme is a little superfluous). The cutting of the ties is a very interesting thing though (bring your friends and put fake names up like "Babe Ruth was here"). They also have a large slide which I think the kids would love. I don't think I'll return here until I have three kids though.
Whenever we are in Colorado, we make it a point to go to the Traildust in Westminster. We always have a great time. The service was excellent, and the food....talk about large portions. They have the best chicken fried steak I have ever eaten in my life.
I don't know what has happened to this group of steakhouses, but they are definitely not the Traildust of years ago. We ate there last night and it was very disappointing. Their prices have gone way up, there was hardly anyone there during the dinner hour, and the service was non existent! I would estimate there were less than 10 tables and only one table was seated the entire time we were there! Instead of a band, they had a guy singing to recorded music - it seemed a little cheap! With crowds like they had I predict they will soon be out of business! We were at the Arlington site in the last month and the crowd there was the same, except the service was better. Food just ok, nothing to write home about or make me want to go back!
My 11 yr. old daughter and I were going to make this a girl's nite out! It was New Year's Eve, and when we arrived we were told the wait could be a while. W e opted to wait, since we both wanted a good steak.
We waited about 20 minutes or so and they called us and said would you like to sit upstairs? I said that was fine and so we went upstairs. There was hardly anyone up there. About 15 minutes of watching people and police officers go back and forth, I was getting a little impatient. Someone finally came to our table and took our order, but it was another 15 to 20 minutes before we saw him again. So my daughter and I decided to go somewhere else to get our steak. This place was not that busy, and I am not sure what the problem was, but that was unsatisfactory treatment of a paying guest, or any guest for that matter.
