Peggy Sue's Barbeque
Located in nostalgic Snider Plaza, this 1950s corner cafe is a perfect setting for a plate of Texas barbecue. Texana art and photography line the walls. Comfortable booths and rustic decor make this place feel like an old Texas diner, which it is. Menu favorites include the Peggy Sue Pulled Pork sandwich, the fresh "Homemade Fixins" salad , and the palate-pleasing Fried Apricot or Chocolate Pie. On cold days, the place is packed with people ordering the Chicken Vegetable Soup.
Great place! Great food! It was my first time in Dallas, the concierge recommended this place for awesome BBQ and he was right! We just had to go there before we left town. The baby back ribs are the best I've had!
It was my first time downsouth US. We were on a long road trip my friend and I and we looked on the internet to find a cool, cheap and amazing place to eat. Boy did we ever find it!
The way they cook their meat is awesome.
The dry rub beef is to die for and the sauce..MAN, THE SAUCE..!
Anyway, you know how french folks are with their food... well i'm french-canadian and i've been thinkin about that place for over 4 years now...been only once, but would defenatly would love to go back and even to work there !!!
I love everything about it. The food, service and location. I've been there 100 times, and the food and service is always the same. The baby back ribs are to die for. The salad bar is simple, but good. Not to mention the sides, good. Even the desserts are good. I personally like the peach cobbler with ice cream, it doesn't get no better then that. At last, the price, for all you get, its a steal. I go for every occasion (anniversary, birthday, etc.)
Hopefully I can have Peggy Sue's in heaven.
BBQ and sides are all amazing in this charming family owned restaurant. Great BBQ doesn't require hiding in sauce, but the best BBQ is rich tasting brisket mixed with the best homemade BBQ sauce you'll ever have. Perfect. And lots of veggie options too for the ladies.
It's all good. The BBQ, the sides (some of the most mouthwatering I've ever had), the atmosphere together make a memorable experience worth enjoying again and again. I don't care for onion rings, but these guys have it down. I could eat those all night. The combo plates are chock full of savory meats, the green beans have a certain spice that shouldn't be overlooked either. They also offer two great carry out deals well worth the money. It's also great that it's hidden in Snider Plaza, somewhat off the beaten path. You practically have to know someone to know about it. I love to introduce this place to out-of-towners or suburbanites.
Let's just start off by saying I've never had anything there but the baby back ribs. It took me until about my 5th visit to discover they actually served BBQ sauce on the side.
The ribs are coated witha brown sugar sauce and need nothing else. The BBQ sauce is an unusual taste, quite good but I couldn't see the point of using it.
These suckers are the best ribs I've ever had.
They have a salad bar that looks pretty inviting but I'm not the type for rabbit food.
There's all sorts of veggies on the menu that are not the kind I'd expect to see in a BBQ joint.
I've tried all the other rib joints in the area, none of them use the brown sugar sauce to cook so there's no comparison. I'd suggest you check the "best of" list on the Dallas Observer web site. They're the top three for BBQ joints and normally 1st or 2nd place for ribs. I suppose people get tired of them winning every time or something. This was the first place I checked out when I moved back because I missed it so badly.
I'd suggest the fried pies for dessert.
