The tour is about the history of places and the ghosts that remain. The tour guide emphasized that Austin Ghost Tours believes that most people are NOT afraid of ghosts, we often co-exist. So if you want to be scared, and like devils and demons this is not the tour for you. But if you are interested in history this is the tour for YOU.

Personally, I think the people are genious. They are making a killing off unsuspecting people who think this sounds interesting. Its not. I could not suggest this as a fun night out. They walk you aroumd downtownaustin, telling stories that are boring and I would question their sources if it interested me at all... Its a huge waste of money. But great small business idea for them. No overhead and always visitors in the area to be gotten.

A tour guide walks you around downtown and stops every now and then to tell ghost stories. There's a whiff of desperation to this tour - on our first stop the guide explained that the building he was -actually- going to talk about was a half a block away. Another stop was by a creek but the ghost story was about a different creek. Yet another story was about "the building across the street from here." And the next-to-last one was in a parking lot where an infamous building used to stand, but the story had nothing to do with ghosts. There were about 30 of us on the tour, which means somebody got $450 to send a (well-meaning) guy to take us around for an hour and a half to the general vicinity of some maybe or maybe-not ghost stories. Maybe this is worth $15 per person to someone, but I think a $2.00 brochure would have been just as informative considering that you don't see anything all that interesting.

great way to see the city and learn. I think it is the only thing to do in downtown Austin that does not involve drinking. So it was a really fun thing to do with my family, we are of all ages.

It was very exciting downtown walking tour. You will definitely learn more about Austin and its haunted history. It's resnoably priced, and tour guides are great.

I scheduled a tour three days prior to my trip to Austin. Something unexpected happened the day before our trip and I had to cancel our hotel reservations and I called the ghost tour to cancel my reservation three different times that day. I got an answering machine and explained that I had to cancel and requested that they call me back and let me know what my options were. No one returned any of my calls. I called again on the day of the tour that I was scheduled for. The lady I spoke to that night said she did not know the cancellation policy but would take my information down and have someone call me back. Five days went by and no one called me back. I made two additional phone calls to the company got an answering machine each time. Each time I have left my name and number and still NO return call from them after a week! Beware....this company will take your money and you will not hear back from them if you cancel. If I lived in Austin I would be able to talk to them at the meeting site, but since I live out of town, it's not that easy and they know it.

I had a lot of fun, and enjoyed learning more about History of Austin. It is greta tour, and you will definitely learn a lot from it. I would recomend it to everybody.

It was great experience! I learned a lot more about the city I live in. Just now I realised how great History of Austin is.
