Take Starbucks, lower the prices, throw some antique-yellow paint on the walls and you have got yourself another cozy place to perk up. It is nice to know that you can still get a Double Cappuccino for less than three bucks in this country, but the difference between this campus coffee house and its corporate competitor boils down to a few 1970s-style lime-green love seats. The coffee maintains a pleasing, medium strength. There are lots of fruit and energy drinks to choose from. The stone floor is polished and so clean you could eat off it. The ever-popular Longhorn Po-Boys and Falafel shares rent space with this java house, creating two stores in one. This place opens from Monday to Friday at 7.30 pm and from Saturday to Sunday at 8.30am.

This place needs a new management team! Aweful service, aweful customer care!
By David M, 12/23/07
we went to enjoy some coffee and muffins at Lava Java. We had seen people sitting outside and thought it would be nice. The cashier was rude, nasty, and made us feel like stupid tourists. The muffin and slice of cake were old and had hard edges. The place was chaotic and for the few customers who were there, the 4 people working seemed overwhelmed and were very rude. These people obviously know they have a great location and don't feel the need to please their customers or offer quality goods. It is a tourist trap. Someone with the true spirit of aloha should buy the place and make it into something nice.
