Casino El Camino, Austin

man. this is one of the most interesting places i've ever been, and i've been around. it's dark and dank like a dungeon with interesting art and b-movie posters on the wall. flames, too. and gargoyles. above the beer fridge is a three-foot tall wooden sculpture in red. i can best describe it as a crucified vulcan with an uncircumcised boner and a-cups. there's a bartender with tattoos on his face and there are always freaky b-movies on the hdtvs. i love it. it's a little scary but you never get the feeling of even a hint of trouble. nice bartenders and if engaged, the patrons are always kind. in the patio out back, one is transported to a mayan courtyard, with murals and a fountain in the center. the food is great and worth the wait. it's a wicked bar, so don't expect the cook at the window where you make your order to be like some obsequious chump at a yuppie joint. seriously. the grill has had some notoriety with positive food network reviews but remember, this place is a neighborhood hangout and you're their guest. enjoy the incredibly unique atmosphere and tell everyone you were there. you'll be cool. come to austin and meet some people at casino el camino. it is a place you will remember.

Great bar, cool decore, friendly staff. Visited for the Holidays looking forward to a great burger, but was disappointed. Had the Amarillo burger and the meat was flavorless, the bun didn't cut it either. If I ever went again though, I would totally grab the wings. This is where Casino El Camino shines.

Was looking forward to trying this place after seeing it on TV. Burger had no flavor even with the roasted sarenno peppers, bun was dry and stale. Fries with the chili cheese and verde sauce was good. Party of 5 and no one wants to go back, it was terrible.
