Country Music stars Travis Tritt and Lorrie Morgan have visited this Idle Hour Tavern, along with Lee Roy Purnell and David Lee Murphy. What brings them here? Tradition. For decades Dianne and Bobby Herald have hosted up-and-coming artists in what they call "a little old beer bar." Sure, they serve beer, but they also serve some of the best live country music in Nashville. Top artists still come by to perform for the packed house, and they usually stick around to toss back a cold one. Domestic beer is cheap enough at $1.75, and chips and pizza are served all night.

I can't get back (don't steal the title, it's been used!)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/08/08
I went to The Idle Hour one Saturday night in April 1996. There I met J W Allan. I found the atmosphere the greatest thing I'd come across in a bar anywhere in the world. It was the mix a people who came in as the night wore on. But what made my jaw drop was the couple of guys sitting at the bar, swapping a guitar and just singing it as it is. We don't get much of that in England! I had to leave early, about 1 o'clock, which was a great pity and looking back I feel sad. I called in again during my honeymoon in 1998. It was during the Winter of Ice Storm 98 and although we were invited to the Xmas party, because of the weather, we never made it. However I was given a copy of the HUGHLY sucssesful, and best selling album 'The Hillbilly Trio, Live at the Idle Hour'. An album which should be in everyone's collection. I see that the Idle Hour has now moved, so 'I Can't Get Back' even if I ever visit Nashville again.
