A blasting jukebox and great burgers draw a neighborhood crowd to this popular corner bar, which is also a favorite with Rhodes College students. Park on the street and join the late-night crowd, which has been known to hang around this Midtown standard until the day's first light. The doors of Alex's Tavern never close and you can leave your Visa and your American Express cards at home, no credit cards are accepted here.
I have been a client of the Tavern for over seven years. It would have been more had I found the place earlier.
What the menu lacks in depth, it makes up for in quality. Greek Burgers have been a hit for over 50 years at the Tavern. Not many places still offer a good hand pattied burger made from locally purchased quality meat. The wings, with a sauce made from scratch, is my favorite And occasionally there is a "Rock-Mo Special" like BBQ "Shkrimps"
The twin juke boxes have also been a long time attraction in the tavern. Charlie Rich still is on the juke box but now it is CD's. And despite the change in years and technology, Sinatra's Summer Wind, which was the founder's favorite, remains popular. And the mix offers something for everyone including Memphis favorites like Al Green and Issac Hayes.
When the Tigers are on or on NFL game days it can be quite packed, but it always has the feel of a neighborhood pub. Now days I live an hour to the south of Memphis, but I always stop in when visiting my mom.
This Pinch District pub is sort of memorial to the Irish immigrants who settled in this area. Enjoy a good
selection of beer in the old, dark wood interior and with Irish memorabilia on the walls. Live music on ...
If the goats, kept outside in an empty lot next door, don't get you, then the "Diver" will. The Diver

This building was the Memphis home of William Christopher Handy, who is often referred to as the "Father of the
