Myrtle Beach State Park
The first state park in South Carolina, Myrtle Beach State Beach is in the heart of Myrtle Beach. It has 312 acres of oceanfront and is one of the last natural areas in this area. Spend just a day or rent a campsite or 2-bedroom cabin and stay for the whole summer. The Nature Center has displays of animals, fish, plants and flowers of the area and an easy-to-hike nature trail which is only 3/4 mile one way. This park also has a store, gift shop, playground, and fishing form the pier or surf. Opens daily at 6 am.
I just got back from Myrtle Beach, and I spent almost an entire day here. I really loved that it was less crowded, easily accessible, and more "wild nature" than the beaches further down. The pier was great, the dunes were great, the facilities were clean, and re-entry is free all day once you pay. I will definitely return to this park!
M.B.S.P. IS A GREAT GETAWAY AND AT A GOOD PRICE. WE GO AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR. WE LOVE BEING NEAR THE OCEAN WITH BEAUTIFUL, CLEAN SANDY BEACH AND ENJOY A CAMPFIRE AND COOKOUT AT NIGHT. NOT SO MUCH INTO M.B. NIGHT LIFE, BUT WE DO LIKE TO MINIATURE GOLF.
JUST A GREAT PLACE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY.
I loved the less crowded beaches and it is so much cleaner than the beaches around the strand. it has a peir for fishing and a souviner shop/refreshment stand. also it has a nice wooded campground if you want to camp.
I have only 1 complaint about MB State Park. The bathrooms/ shower areas were the nastiest of any campgound I've ever stayed at!!!! I complained everyday to every worker I saw and got told it would be taken care of. Never was. I guess cleaning to them is just hosing down with water hose.
Great shade, price is right. Great atmosphere for family and kids, great beach with lifegaurds.
I'll tell you one thing for sure, there is no better place to be than at Myrtle Beach! The people there are friendly, very helpful, and very exciting...(And when you can be there for bike week, wow!!!!) I love it !! I loved it so much,I am thinking of making it my home! As a matter of fact, I will be leaving on February 10th to go back for a week and then again in May for bike week! I wouldn't miss it!! Hope to see ya there!!
Great place to camp.
Nice natural setting for a Coastal Carolina beach. Less crowded than other area beaches.
Also check out Huntington State Park, another state park 10 miles south. It has a castle and you drive through a path with alligators on the way in like a Safari drive.
