Ripley's Aquarium is located at Broadway at the Beach. Move through a see-through tunnel while fish and sharks swim all around you. See ray sharks, dive shows, marine education presentations, creatures from the Amazon rain forest, octopus, sea dragons and thousands of colorful fish. Touch horseshoe crabs and rays. You can buy family, season and business passes, and the aquarium can be rented for business meetings. The Polynesian Review, an evening of food, dancing and hula lessons, is held Tuesday through Thursday from 7:30p to 10p. Sunday Brunch is 9a to 2p.
Let's start positive: Walking underneath the sharks and seeing the sea dragons was fun.
Maybe I've been spoiled by the Baltimore Aquarium and my expectations were high, but with reading about the sea life and being sort of trapped behind many strollers we still were out of there in 20 minutes. Which I was surprised by, because the place looks relatively large.
After Ripley's Aquarium we went to Alligator Alley and much more fun. They have a wider variety of animals and alligator feedings. The only negative is most of it is outside, so weather permitting!
Let's just say I'm glad I got discount tickets, it seemed a little costly for the size of the place. My girlfriend and I were in and out of the aquarium within a 1/2hr 45 minutes. I feel for families who visit because it seemed very costly. The positive-we were out of the heat for a bit!!
Have been to the one in Gatlinburg Tennessee and was very impressed with it. Am coming to Myrtle Beach this summer and Ripleys Aquarium is tops on our list of places to go. Walking underneath sharks was great.
