Ruined Our Vacation!!
By ,
TERRIBLE PLACE!!! Our week at Myrtle Beach was a rain out so we had to make do spending little time at the beach and pool. On the 2nd day we decided to head to this DUMP!!! The lines were crazy long and it is OVERPRICED!!! Due to the rain I can't say I was shocked that it was crowded, but I honestly believe that it was overcrowded, as in the Fire Marshall should have been there. The Dino attraction was 3 robot dinosaurs and two displays! We spent more time in line to see it than we actually did seeing it. The tunnel was crowded and with two inpatient kids and a toddler who didn't care getting through that was a nightmare. The kids liked the one exhibit with the horseshoe crabs, but as parents after an hour it got old. I do mean an hour! No one in the family wanted to see anything else!!! We arrived 30 minutes early to see the mermaid show and had to get standing room in the back. Trying to get three children to sit still for 30 minutes was impossible. The show was 10 minutes!!!! One poor worker had the job of telling people that they had to stay on one side of the yellow line in the back to allow people a chance to walk thru. Poor thing got yelled at by so many people! At this point I noticed that every family, again EVERY family, that I saw was quietly trying to hide an arguement. It was way too stressful and crowded!!! Why do I say it ruined the vacation? Well, the rain didn't help, but the fact that we all got a summer cold while there ruined our vacation! In all seriousness we may never be going back to Myrtle Beach again because we had such a miserable time. Let's face it, no one is going to make any effort to get us to come back. I guess they are okay with empty hotels. THIS WAS THE LOW POINT OF OUR VACATION!!! Have a rainy day plan, always, but make sure this isn't it!!!

Will not be making this a tradition!
By ,
For what we paid, and how it was advertised, we expected MUCH more! The Mermaid show was short, the dinosaur exhibit had a long line, and was very small and loud. The building was packed shoulder to shoulder and very small. We were extremely disappointed and will not be returning.

Biggest Ripoff in MB
By ,
I wanted to write and express my dissatisfaction with my recent experience. We visited the aquarium 06/06/2012. Apparently the aquarium is out to make as much money as possible. There should be a limit on the number of people they allow inside. It was wall to wall people. You could hardly move. You had to push and shove your way through to see the exhibits which we found to be very lacking. The aquarium does not hold a candle to the others we have visited. I would think for the price we paid to get in there would be more to see. This is absolutely the biggest rip off in MB. We will not return and I recommend that no one else does either.

RIP OFF
By ,
My wife and I love aquariums. We have visited several, including other Ripley's. This one is by far, the most lame. We paid nearly $50 to see an aquarium that took all of 30 minutes to see, in its entirety, including looking around for 10 minutes for the rest of the aquarium. Go to the one in Atlanta, GA, go to the one in Gatlinburg, TN. DO NOT GO THE THE ONE IN MYRTLE BEACH, SC!

We love the aquarium!
By ,
It is a bit small for an aquarium. I love going when it's not crowded and just sitting and watching the fish, listening to amazingly relaxing music. Alone, or with friends and family, it's one of my favorite places. If you plan on going more than once in a year, I recommend the annual pass. It pays for itself after two visits!

Good, but not Great
By ,
My wife and I are very big fans of aquariums, so we've visited a good number of them. We've been here several times now, and it has been a fairly enjoyable experience. The facility is clean and well maintained, the staff is friendly, and the collection of animals is neat. I've never had the problem of crowding that others here have described, but that may be because I have always gone during the off season for tourism. During those times, it is a quiet and relaxing place. My issues with this aquarium are the price and the size. For someone that hasn't seen very many aquariums, this is a lovely and entertaining place, but once you've seen more, you realize that it is on the small side. The price is also rather high. I've been to places twice as large for the same price. So, it is a nice place, and certainly doesn't deserve some of the very negative things that people have said, but it is also not the best place that I have been.

Love it!
By ,
We went to renew our yearly passes and, as always, really enjoyed it. zWe sit in the tunnel for hours watching the sharks and other fish go by, to the most relaxing music in the world. Then, we went upstairs to pet the stingrays and as usual, I left soaking wet. We went at least 10 times this past year and it is most fun in the winter, when the tourists are not there enmasse, but it's fun to people watch too. Employees are really well informed about the critters and happy to share their knowledge with you. The STINGRAY EXPERIENCE is so worth every penny!!! I have snorkled and scuba dived and this was a very cool experience, especially for my hubby, who is not a strong swimmer. I would live here if they'd let me.

Ripley's Aquarium Rip-off
By ,
Avoid this rip-off experience... We paid $72 for (3) adults and (1) child... Was completely packed with rude/pushy people and little to see... The only real attraction what the water/glass tunnel – everything else had a wait (45 min) to see... Entire experience was worth $20 ($5 / person) not $72... Avoid this attraction – this is a total tourist trap….
