This place was is a let down, i've been a handful of times and everytime is worse. I remember ordering an Italian sub and they litteratly dotted my sub with a few tomatoes very very little onion and barely any hots that you couldn't even taste them, barely much meat and cheese to call a sandwich. The sandwich itself was not cheap and very very thin. Why so skimpy Walden Kitchen??
If you must go here stick with the pizza, its ok at best. but atleast they cant fool you. and the calzones are pretty good.
On a side note the staff and the owners are not very friendly, everytime I walked into this place i felt like i was bothering them and no one was smiling or saying thank you. West Concord should really give this place the boot!
Concord lacks good restaurants. Everyone laments that fact. For pizza, most places in town are forgettable. Walden Italian is the best of the bunch. I grew up in the NY area and compare pizzas to my experiences there -- Walden is the closest to matching a NY pie, and we go there frequently. There are 8-10 tables, and its a perfectly appropriate place to take your kids after soccer practice, dance class, etc...
My husband and I recently went into Walden Italian Kitchen and ordered 2 subs. We paid for the subs and then we watched in absolute disgust as the gentleman (whom i later found out is one the owners) walked straight over from the cash register to the area where they prepare sandwiches and proceeded to make our subs without even washing his hands or wearing gloves. To make matters worse, he not only was handling money before he touched the food, but he was actually holding a filthy mop just before i placed the order. My husband and I were so grossed-out and appauled that we couldn't eat the subs. The sad part of it is, there is a sink and plastic gloves right there next to the sandwich prep area. I would have said something to them, but the restaurant was half full and i didn't want to make a scene. Needless to say, we will NEVER be going back to the Walden Italian Kitchen!
I have been to the Walden Italian Kitchen several times and the food is decent, but don't be fooled...there is not a single italian person cooking the food. This restauraunt is one of many examples of greeks trying to disguise their food as italian cuisine. Like i said, the food is decent but it's definitely not authentic italian.
