A homely and reasonably priced restaurant - possibly one of the few true bring-your-own-wine places left in town. It offers pleasant, unpretentious dining in a small and cosy lounge with burnt orange walls, exposed beams of dark wood and Mexican inspired bric-a-brac. Frequented by locals, groups and families. Offers a moderate range centred on Enchiladas and Tacos, though there is a constantly changing specials board as well. A choice of four desserts will nicely complete your meal.
yummy!!!!!!!!!!! I love the food here and it is has terrific freindly staff. My favourite dishes are the half and half dip, the Tacos and Enchilidas. I have bben eating here at leat once a month for the last six years. That speaks for itself how good it is.

After spending 3 weeks on vacation between Australia and NZ without Mexican food I was going crazy, then I found the Mexican Cafe in Wellington. I was so happy with the food/service. If I am ever back on that side of the world again, I would definately go back. I was one happy American Tourist.
This is a great little cafe / restaurant. The food is proper mexican, not like the bland spiceless meals you get at other so called mexican places. It is BYO and the value for money is great. It is very small, so needs booking.
