Historic Homes Walk (The)
Description
Charleston is known for its amazing architecture that blends an early American influence with more than a little English style. Many of these well-preserved homes date back to the mid-eighteenth century. As you leisurely stroll the 1.5 miles down Charleston's avenues, your guide will regale you with stories of the people and events that helped give these historic structures their unique character. Tours depart from 45 South Market Street Tuesday through Saturday at 10:30am & 1:30pm, and Sunday and Monday at 1:30pm. Adult prices are USD 29.50, children 8-14 USD22.50. Check the website for further details.
Our tour guide apparently had no plan for our tour. She took us to one restored home which we viewed with the owner and saw his many antiques which took up most of our time. When we left she asked what we wanted to see....we thought she would be giving us guidance. We had to ask what every building was. The tour did little to increase our knowledge of the Charleston area Historical Homes as advertised. We passed several other walking groups that day and the tour guides were defintely giving much more of a tour.
we did all out tours with this company & they sell a great value pack. covered everything we wanted to see in the short time we had. the guide for the historic homes was extremly knowledgable as well as the guy we had on the other tours. well worth the price especially if you do multiple tours but expect to do a lot of walking to pack it all in
this was the best thing i did in charleston i will do it again the tour was given by a local historian who new her stuff. It was a walking tour and it was very lovley.
