Spirit of Philadelphia
There's a great view of the Philadelphia Waterfront. After lunch or dinner, the talented crew favors the guests with a fancy-free musical revue. Later, the guests can enjoy the dance floor, have a cocktail, or take a stroll on the outdoor decks. Various two and three hour cruise packages are available. Call for private and corporate event hosting. The hostesses are pretty and the people dress fashionably. Look out for the cocktails and live music.
I was on philadelphia cruise last saturday 11/28/09, reservation# 813431, for saturday lunch with a group of 90+ people. I was one of those who recommended the spirit of philadelphia as a choice. But I regret it, the food was horrible, me and alot others were not able to eat anything except salad and desert. the entertainment was so poor, no live entertainment was offered like two years ago. The service was terrible. The cruise was not fully booked and still we had to run and search for a waiter or waitress to bing drinks to us.
For the price I paid, I feel rubbed. my experience is big disappointment.
Food was horrible, service was rude and very bad, we had to buy and serve our own overpriced drinks. The "entertainment" was a DJ who played loud, bad music. And the boat never left the dock! A total waste of time and money.
I took my wife on Valentine's Day 02/14/09 and I wish I would've took her some where else. The ship took off about an hour late due to problems with a vendor and instead of making up for the late hour, the freaking cruise only lasted an hour instead of the two hours I paid for!!! We were told we'd be contacted about the inconvience but when I took a stroll up South Street to ask the mechants about any experiences they've had with this cruise, most of them weren't good. It sounds like my experience wasn't anything new and will continue to happen if the Spirit of Philadelphia doesn't get their Operations Management and Supply Chain Management under control. Our waitress was nice. That was one fine point. I doubt I'd go back. I have to see what Corporate says when they get in touch with me. I wouldn't recommend for a special occasion like Valentine's Day or anything else that you don't want screwed up. Sorry but I only give it a two stars because our friends went with us and we had a good time together (not because of the cruise).
I just wanted to say thank-you to the Spirit of Philadelphia for making my Anniversary such a wonderful night. The sales person, the staff on the ship, and the dancers were all wonderful! Thanks again for making me the "hero". You saved the day for me!
I rode the lunch cruise this past Friday afternoon and I enjoyed every second! The boarding process was smooth, everyone was kind and courteous, the atmosphere was vibrant and was full of energy. All of the items on the buffet were cooked just right and our server was very attentive and always had a smile on her face! I have cruised on The Spirit of Philadelphia in the past and we always have a great time, especially on the dance floor! From what I saw, everyone around us was having a great time as well. And I'm very confused why the person with the "awful experiece" would say that smoking is allowed because I am a smoker and we were told that all 3 inside decks are smoke free; which they are!
I can't wait to cruise again!
The whole experience was awful. The food was awful. It took 25 minutes to get something like an iced tea to drink. You're allowed to smoke on every deck of the ship so it is not fun it you're a non-smoker. Manager was awful. one work = HORRIBLE!
Went on a lunch cruise with my child's school. Teacher had taken two previous classes and enjoyed the food. This year was different. Horrible food -- frozen fish sticks, cheap chicken fingers, plain rice, macroni and cheese, chicken on the bone, everything that is not healthy for children to eat. The drinks had no ice and the boat was packed. Dessert was two hard cookies on a plate. Boat was so packed and they only had a disc jockey on the lower level so the kids could hardly move around and the noise level was very high. When I wrote of letter to complain they blamed it on our teacher and said they had a very good reputation in Phila. Not any more! I will never set foot on that ship again. They should be ashamed of themselves and what they served for food to these kids and chaperones.
Where to start, took two different servers 3-4 times to get our drink order correct. Then the drinks never arrived until after our meal was completed. The buffet choices were poor and the food was average at best. We had choice of 2 types of chicken, asian stir fry (on easter), fish stuffed with crab or spinach lasagna. I thought ham was traditional for Easter dinner and there was no plain beef selection.
The entertainment was far from professional (but they did try their best so I give them an A for effort in that dept), music was loud enough that there was no room for conversation at your table unless you felt like yelling over the noise.
Bottomline we will never waste our time on the Easter Cruise and I think it will be a long time before I ever think of going back on the cruise. Not worth the money in my opinion.
While the night cruise was nice when I made it to the top deck and enjoyed the glowing city lights, everything else about the cruise was extremely disappointing. The food was less than average, the entertainment was embarrassing, and the service was unpolished. You would be better served to find a nice restaurant with a view of the city. Or forego the view and just enjoy a good meal elsewhere.
