Description

Few artistic geniuses have captured the human form and condition in sculpture like Auguste Rodin. Marvel at perhaps his most famous work, The Thinker, and wonder at the introspective nature of man and the might that is thought and creation. The Kiss and other noteworthy sculptures are also on hand including his last work, Gates of Hell. Apart from the French Rodin Musee, the Philadelphia locale is considered the largest collection of his masterpieces.

Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/21/08
My wife and I still revel in the memories of our visit to the Rodin Museum in Paris from 15 years ago, so the opportunity to see the "largest Rodin collection outside of Paris" seemed to be an unbelievable opportunity. Perhaps our expectations were impossibly high, but we just felt disappointed in our visit to the Philadelphia museum. If we had known that the vast majority of sculptures on display were bronze castings, perhaps we would have just enjoyed the beauty and power of Rodin's art. Unfortunately, we were anticipating something akin to the awe-inspiring marble statues on display in Paris, and this is just not what the Philadelphia musuem offers. Tht said, the musuem is certainly a good value ($3 suggested donation) and was a very nice venue in which to view the works.

Awesome Culture
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/26/05
The works of Rodin are amazingly portrayed at the museum. A audio-guided tour gives visitors the opportunity to go at their own pace and really look at the awesome works of Rodin!

Free culture
By Bilbot, 9/26/05
Not as big or diverse as the Art Museum just a few blocks away, but it's free admissions on saturday and sunday and the sculptures are pretty famous. Value for price = infinity

We always enjoy the Rodin.
By hope, 9/25/05
This is one of my favorite smaller museums. We do recommend it and no matter who we take there we have fun. It is a gem of a museum. Always like going down to the Parkway . It's easy to get around and see everything . We still have time to visit the Philadelphia Art Museum. Great location - we like to stop nearby for a meal. A worthwhile day everytime.

Master Works
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/15/05
You are surrounded by these master works. As you move thru the museum the works are always the focus. The power of these pieces is joyfully unavoidable!
