This little hollow across from City Hall is most noteworthy for Robert Indiana's 1978 "Love" sculpture. The piece has become a popular symbol for the "City of Brotherly Love" and its image is plastered all over the city. It's 20-foot-tall appeal lies in its simplicity: The letters L, O, V, E, stacked on top of each other. During a usual lunch hour the park attracts an odd combination of Armani clad businesspeople and skateboarders who skinny-dip their modes of transport in this concrete pond. They're actually fun to watch.

Simple, yet so meaningful
By Spring, 05/04/07
The first time I went to Love Park was about eight years ago when I lived in Philly. Being from a small town in upstate NY, Philadelphia can really feel like an intimidating city. I had lived there temporarily with my husband (who is originally from Philly). To my husband Love Park is just another place in a vast city. To me it was a place to go to when I was feeling homesick. Just seeing the LOVE statue made me feel like the big city wasn't so different after all. Now since we are planning a trip to Philly within the next week. I am looking forward to taking my children (age 4 and 2) to the park for the first time, because I want them to see one of my most favorite places in all of Philadelphia.

skateboarding
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/01/06
love park should change their name, because there is NO love there. skateboarding is a way for people to come together, and share something so special. and love park was a place that kids of all ages could do so. declining D.C shoes's 1 million dollar deal, shows that even putting this much effort into it wouldnt help, so i dont think anything will. love park is closed to all skaters who will recieve a 300 dollar fine if seen on the park property skating. if kids could just show that this means so much to them by cleaning up, and keeping it nice, who knows, maybe one day love park will show some love to the people that care much more about it than any of those tourists. im living in pa about an hour away from love, and if it was still open, so many people could be into the joy of skating. love needs to love more....

The Power of Love!
By JenniferH, 10/04/05
Love Park is a great place to take a break for both locals and tourists. Local employees may leave city hall or any of the other businesses in Center City to take a Power Walk down "The Parkway" past flags - of nations with varying degrees of power - and with a view of the majestic Philadelphia Museum of Art. Others may take a quick lunch or power nap in the sun during their midday break. Visitors to this City of Brother Love - especially couples - snap photographs in front of the Love Sculpture - a powerful image most recognized from the U.S. Postal stamps that have adorned many love letters and wedding invitations. The power of community is also often reflected in the centerpiece of this park, a large fountain with water that may be colored pink for Breast Cancer Awareness or green in support of the NFL football team,Philadelphia Eagles. But more recently, Love Park has become powerful in a technolgical sense - free Wifi is available in this city location! This power of Love Park is a first step toward making Philadelphia - the first city capital and home of the first US Mint - to be the first city with free wireless access for all.

In Center City
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/03/05
During the weekends, there may be some shows or political or social groups having activities around the Love Park in Philly Center City. Because the park is so close to the City Hall and Meusums, it is always a good starting point if you want to spend a day as a tourist and do not hate the crowds of modern center cities. The park is really small, and not green. That's a big minus. But you can walk to the meusum and the Parkway, or the Ritz Calton hotel. They are trying to beautify the City Hall and surrounding area. However, the area is so crowded that it is hard to find place for more trees or flowers. Anyway, from there, several best Philly Grill restaurants are within five mintues of walk.

Why not?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/02/05
It's a nice walk through U Penn, and it's absolutely free, so why not check it out? There are plenty of other sites and sounds to take in around the park, and it is close to many other major attractions. Sometimes there are even concerts and other entertainment there, especially when school is in session.

Free love park
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/01/05
What is there to dislike about love except for the the lack of love, to us skateboarders. Thats right love used to be a skate haven where kids to unite and take part in an activity in which the love. Now if you get caught on that block with a skateboard in hand you get harresed and sometimes even ticketed. As a non city resident i have found not to carry and i.d. and just give the cops fake names and adresses. That seems to work especially if you are from out of town. Other then that many pro skaters such as Kerry Getz and Josh Kalis move to Philly just so that they could skate love park every day. It has been in video games and the real deal X-Games were held there not 1 but 3 years in a row. So how about it lets give some love to those skaters.
